Warmongering Islamophobia in the US:

Incitement and Attacks on Islam and Muslims,

May 1-9, 2017, CAIR Reports

May 9, 2017

Editorial Note:

Islamphobia (exaggerated and baseless fear of Muslims) has been perpetrated and perpetuated to justify the continuous US wars and invasions of the Muslim World since 1990, in order for the war industry beneficiaries to justify the enormous and unprecedented US national debt, which has reached more than $19 trillion, as a result of the permanent-war military spending.

Tens of thousands of Americans are killed by non-Muslim other Americans every year, in gun violence. However, Islamophobes ignore that fact and focus on an incident or two perpetrated by Muslims in an entire year.

For example, in 2016, there were 58,241shooting incidents, including 385 mass shooting, resulting in the killing of 15,060 Americans and injuring 30,607. Of these, there was only one incident perpetrated by a Muslim and resulting in the killing of 49 people in an Orlando, Florida night club.

The Zionist media, together with the  war industry agents and the Zionist-controlled politicians, kept mentioning this incident as a terrorist attack, just because the perpetrator was a Muslim, while totally ignoring the other 58,240 incidents, which resulted in the killing of 15,011 Americans!

In 2015, there were 53,228 shooting incidents, resulting in the killing of 13,415 Americans. Of these, there were only two incidents perpetrated by Muslims and resulting in the killing of 18 Americans.

The Zionist media, together with the war industry agents and Zionist-controlled politicians, kept mentioning these two incidents while totally ignoring the other 53,226 incidents, which resulted in the killing of 13,398 Americans!

The end outcome is that the American people are indeed actual victims of a continuous warmongering campaign, Islamophobia, and a daily holocaust, perpetrated against them by the war industry beneficiaries and their agents in the media and politics.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/9/2017) -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released a report showing a 57 percent increase in anti-Muslim incidents in 2016 over the previous year. This spike in anti-Muslim incidents was accompanied by a 44 percent increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes during the same period.

CAIR's new report, titled "The Empowerment of Hate," also notes that from 2014 to 2016, anti-Muslim bias incidents jumped 65 percent. [NOTE: The report focuses primarily on 2016, but also contains data on cases documented by CAIR during the 2014-2016 period.]

SEE: The Empowerment of Hate

"It is time for the Trump administration to seriously address the growing anti-minority sentiment in our nation, prompted at least in part by his toxic campaign rhetoric, the appointment of Islamophobes to policy-making posts and the introduction of Islamophobic policies such as the 'Muslim ban,'" said Corey Saylor, director of CAIR's Department to Monitor and Combat Islamophobia, co-author of the report.

The most frequent types of incidents documented by CAIR in 2016 involved harassment, the FBI, employment issues, hate crimes, and denials of religious accommodations:

Harassment, a non-violent or non-threatening bias incident accounted for 18 percent of the total number of incidents.
Incidents during which the complainant was questioned by FBI employees or otherwise appeared to be inappropriately targeted by that agency comprised 15 percent of cases, making this the second largest category.
Employment issues - including denial of work, being passed over for promotion, or harassment by a supervisor or other senior staff - was the third largest category, accounting for 13 percent of the total.
Hate crimes placed fourth, accounting for 12 percent of the cases CAIR documented.

The most prevalent trigger of an anti-Muslim bias incidents in 2016 was the victim's ethnicity or national origin, accounting for 35 percent of the total. Sixteen percent of incidents occurred as a result of women wearing a headscarf. Other Muslim-related activities - events such as rallies, community picnics, or a day at the state capitol visiting legislators organized primarily for Muslims - constituted an additional 11 percent.

The report dataset is drawn primarily from the intakes CAIR conducts each year. With each case, civil rights and legal staff seek to ensure the highest possible level of accuracy.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

CAIR-MN Condemns Neo-Nazi, Racist Vandalism Targeting North Dakota Church

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 5/8/17) -- The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN), a leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the racist and anti-Semitic vandalism targeting a northern North Dakota church.

According to Rev. Ensley Windham, one of the associate pastors at the Church of the Living God in Minot, N.D., the church was vandalized late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Police are investigating the drawing of Nazi swastikas and the writing of "KKK" and the "N" word on the church building.

"With our nation facing increased racially and religiously-motivated attacks, this reprehensible attack against our Christian brothers and sisters must be condemned by Americans of all faiths," said CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein. "CAIR-MN extends its solidarity and support to the Church of the Living God community and to all North Dakotans trying to practice their faith during these trying times."

"No North Dakotan should face harassment because of his or her religious beliefs," said Hussein. "We are a nation united by our diversity. Any attack motivated by religious bigotry is an attack on all Americans and the values we hold dear."

There has been an unprecedented spike in hate rhetoric and bias-motivated incidents targeting people of various religious faiths and other minorities in the last few months and many incidents go unreported due to fear.

CAIR and the American Muslim community have in the past expressed solidarity with Christian, Jewish, Native American, African-American, and Sikh communities in New Mexico, Florida, South Carolina, Maryland, Alabama, Massachusetts, South Dakota, Ohio, Texas, and other states following acts of hate, threats, violence, vandalism, arson, or bombings.

Individuals in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas are asked to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR-MN at (612) 206-3360, or by filing a report at: http://cairmn.com/civil-rights/report-an-incident.html

CAIR Questions South Dakota Officials' Attendance at Anti-Muslim Hate Group's Event

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/6/2017) -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the national largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today questioned why two top South Dakota government officials were reportedly in attendance at an event last weekend hosted by a virulently anti-Muslim hate group.

Media reports indicate that South Dakota Attorney General and GOP gubernatorial candidate Marty Jackley and Secretary of State Shantel Krebs attended the event in Rapid City, S.D., organized by ACT for America, which has been designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as the nation's "largest grassroots anti-Muslim group." The SPLC has also named ACT for America leader "Brigitte Gabriel" as a member of the nation's "Anti-Muslim Inner Circle."

Both officials declined to comment when asked to confirm or explain their attendance at the event.

CAIR, which is based in Washington, D.C., and has chapters and offices nationwide, is urging South Dakota voters to contact both public officials to request an explanation of their attendance at an event sponsored by a notorious anti-Muslim hate group.

The speaker at the event, William Federer, "spent most of his talk painting a picture of Islam as a religion built primarily on a foundation of conquest and bloodshed." He also reportedly said that treating Muslims with "niceness" and "tolerance" is a form of weakness. In his previous writings, Federer joined ACT for America leader "Gabriel" in questioning whether Muslims can be loyal citizens of the United States.

ACT for America Backgrounder:

ACT for America is a virulently anti-Muslim hate group headed by Hanah Kahwagi Tudor, who goes by the pseudonym "Brigitte Gabriel." "Gabriel" has stated that an American Muslim "cannot be a loyal citizen" and that Islam is the "real enemy." She once told the Australian Jewish News: "Every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim." When asked whether Americans should "resist Muslims who want to seek political office in this nation," Tudor said, "Absolutely."

CAIR: National Muslim Civil Rights Group Opens New Chapters in Colorado, Kentucky and Texas

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/4/2017) -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today announced the opening of new chapters in Colorado, Kentucky and Austin, Texas. CAIR's expansion is the first phase of an initiative to counter the nationwide post-election increase in Islamophobia and discrimination by adding chapters at the grassroots level.

The new CAIR chapters join the more than 30 regional offices and chapters of the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, which is headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Each new CAIR chapter will handle civil rights cases, help local Muslim communities increase civic participation and build relationships with policy-makers, law enforcement authorities and elected officials on issues related to civil liberties and social justice.

"The addition of these new chapters reflects the tremendous support CAIR is receiving from the American Muslim community and from the larger society in the post-election period, and demonstrates the necessity to challenge growing bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority communities," said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

CAIR-Colorado held an outreach event on February 24, drawing hundreds of community members to hear Awad and CAIR National Chapter Director Lori Saroya discuss CAIR's work and the civil rights challenges facing American Muslims.

CAIR-Kentucky organized its launch event, "Facing the Challenges of Islamophobia," on April 14.

CAIR Demands Accountability for Police Shooting of Unarmed Black Ninth-Grader in Texas

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/2/17)  The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today demanded accountability for the actions of law enforcement personnel following the police shooting of an unarmed African-American ninth-grader in Texas.

Jordan Edwards, 15, was leaving a party over the weekend when he was fatally shot by police, who initially claimed that Edwards and his companions had backed down the driveway "in an aggressive manner" towards them. An Edwards' family representative said the car was fired on without provocation and police now say the car carrying Edwards was driving away from them when they shot into it.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

"There must be a thorough and independent investigation of this tragic incident so that the facts come to light in a transparent manner and to ensure that all those responsible for the death of Jordan Edwards are held accountable for their actions.

"There have been too many such police-involved shootings nationwide resulting in the deaths of African-American men and boys. This issue must be addressed by law enforcement agencies and by our nation's leaders and policy-makers."

"We will work with our partners in the civil rights community to seek justice and accountability for this deadly police shooting," said Iyad Alnachef, executive director of CAIR's Dallas/Fort Worth chapter (CAIR-DFW).

CAIR has called for similar investigations of other incidents nationwide involving allegations of disparate treatment of African-Americans by law enforcement authorities.

In September of last year, CAIR demanded an independent investigation after a Charlotte, N.C., police officer fatally shot an African-American man while serving a warrant for a different person.

CAIR's Oklahoma chapter also called on state officials to ensure a "fair and transparent" investigation into the 2016 police shooting death of Terence Crutcher, and welcomed the U.S. Dept. of Justice investigation into the shooting. Crutcher, an unarmed 40-year-old father of three, was fatally shot by a Tulsa Police officer after his vehicle broke down on a two-lane highway in North Tulsa.

CAIR Urges Trump Administration Not to Appoint Wisc. Sheriff Who Supported 'Patrols' in Muslim Neighborhoods to DHS Post

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/1/2017)  The Council on American-Islamic relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today urged the Trump administration not to appoint Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. to a post with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Sources say Clarke will be appointed as assistant secretary at the DHS's Office of Partnership and Engagement, a position of that does not require Senate confirmation.

SEE: White House Considers Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke for Post in Homeland Security

Last year, Clarke supported then GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz's call for law enforcement to "patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods." CAIR expressed concern that such a policy would lead to religious and ethnic profiling by officers and called the policy "unworkable, unconstitutional and counterproductive."

SEE: CAIR Concerned That Milwaukee Sheriff's Support for Ted Cruz's Muslim 'Patrols' Will Lead to Profiling

Clarke also caused controversy with his claim that the Black Lives Matter movement would "join forces" with the terror group ISIS. He is facing protests today because he wants his officers to operate as federal immigration agents.

"Given Sheriff Clarke's history of extremist views, and his support for counterproductive and un-American policy proposals, it would be inappropriate to appoint him to any government position -- let alone one involving public outreach," said CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw.

McCaw noted that Clarke would join many other infamous Islamophobes in, or recently removed from the Trump administration, including Sebastian Gorka, Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn, and Stephen Miller. Many of the administration's picks are themselves on record as making anti-Muslim statements or of working closely with anti-Muslim conspiracy theorists.
