Why Don't the US-Led-Western Powers favor the Democratization of the Arab States? By Ali Al-Hail Al-Jazeerah, CCUN, March 21, 2011 The US-Led-Western powers, really, get on one's nerves, and makes one bite her \ his tongue. It makes one wonders about what kind of business, these supposedly, 'democratic' systems are running. For long, they actually, literally, know for certain that, 'Arab' dictatorial regimes are totally, corrupted and repressing Arab people. Despite this, they for decades, have been selling them weapons, worth hundreds of billions of dollars. It's not just now, during this current age of Arab people revolutions, these US-Led-Western powers begin to realize that Qadhafi, the Libyan dictator, possesses a wealth of 131 billion dollars, or Mubarak, the Egyptian ousted dictator, has between 40 – 70 billion dollars, according to the Guardian, or 40 million Egyptians, being under the poverty line. Virtually, everybody knows that, these US-Led-Western powers have for decades been aware of all of that, and far much more, and also, of that of current 'Arab' (would be ousted) dictators. But, nevertheless, the US-Led- Western powers have chosen not to speak out. For, the US-Led-Western powers, as many argue, need such 'Arab' dictators. It looks that, the US-Led-Western states are pro - democracy, however, when it comes to the Arab World, the US-Led-Western powers, see in democratizing Arab countries, a potential threat to 'Israel' and to their economic interests in the region basically, because of their unconditional backing of 'Israel'. For long, too, these US-Led-Western states assuredly, know that, 'Arab' regimes would use their dearly, expensive weaponries against Arab people every time, they dare to take to streets uprising against the regimes' corruption. And they have. In Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and elsewhere throughout the Arab World, 'Arab' dictatorial regimes have brutally, and excessively, used US-Led-Western powers' weapons against Arab peoples' revolutions. One would argue, well, these 'Arab' dictatorial regimes, almost entirely, without a single exemption, had been positioned in the Arab countries by these US-Led- Western powers, in the first place, against the will of the Arab people. The aim, amongst many, to protect Israel's security, and hence, to sustain its continuity. *** Dr. Ali Al-Hail is a Media Consultant, Professor of Mass Communication, Twice Fulbright Award Winner, Fulbright Visiting Scholar, Vice-President Of Qatar Fulbright Group, CSR Award Judge, Psychosomatics writer, Management Trainer, and Board Member of AUSACE, ASC, IABD, NEBAA, BEA, IMDA and EAJMC American Associations. |
