Treaty With Israel Is the Key Code to US-Led-Western Concern Over Mubarak's Dictatorial Regime By Ali Al-Hail Al-Jazeerah, CCUN, February 15, 2011
One presumes, as do many that, US administrations, and with varying degrees, Western European countries, most notably, Britain and France, inspired by Jewish-Zionist-Israeli Lobbies, have since 1971, begun in secrecy working out a way to persuade the Egyptian regime, under President Sadat, to abandon the Arab World, in the aftermath of Nasser's 'dubious' death. Many still argue that, Nasser didn't die naturally, he was rather murdered by Western agents, as part of the US-Led-West plot, for the purpose of diverting Egypt's destiny from its Arab World, where it had always, been. Unlike Nasser , President Sadat was US and Western states preference. Basically, because on one hand, Naser's era was widely, considered by the West as a threat to 'Israel', while, on the other, Nasser apparently, angered the West by his consistent call for Arab unity since 1956, in the aftermath of Suez Canal Crisis. speculations, and rumors (albeit, they were not groundless) were spread cross that, William Rogers, the US Secretary of State, ratcheted pressures over Nasser's decision appointing President Sadat, as the Vice president shortly, prior to Nasser's demise. Nasser's response to Rogers' purported influence was thought to had been caused by Egypt's and Arab states' severe defeat by 'Israel', aided militarily, by the Jonson's administration, on June 5, 1967. Arguably, the US and the EU 'good' relations with an Arab regime, quite often (if not always) have long, been contingent upon the degree of an Arab regime to safeguard 'Israeli' security and interests in the Middle East. Mubarak's regime, which started since 1981, after President Sadat was assassinated, had been a continuance to Sadat regime. Many argue that, Nixon administration, then, especially, its state department headed by Dr. Kissinger, stroke a deal with President Sadat to come out with a good face from a limited victory in 1973 over 'Israel' before ordinary Egyptians and Arabs, as Egyptians, in particular, were still feeling bitter towards their country's defeat by 'Israel', assisted by the US, in 1967. The main aim was to a twofold point. The first; to isolate Egypt from the Arab World, and more importantly, from the Arab Israeli struggle. The second; to punish Nasser for his anti 'Israel' campaign. The Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty, known as the Camp David Accord in 1979, was the mechanism through which this notoriously, architected aim fulfilled. Ever since then, the West, masterminded by US consecutive administrations, have been safeguarding the accord fundamentally, for securing Israel's interests. The current revolution by Egypt's youngsters, have been dealt with by the US administration and the EU within this context. Although, the West is aware of the fact that Mubarak family's wealth is reported to have exceeded 70 billion dollars, according to the Guardian, while more than 40 million people in Egypt are under the poverty line (they live on less than two dollars a day), the West led by the US administration prefer Mubarak, or anyone else but from within Mubarak regime, doesn't matter if the majority of Egyptians want to see all the regime removed. The US and the West uphold a double standard policy, when it comes to Arab dictators friendly to 'Israel'. They, for instance stood by the Georgian and Ukrainian people revolutions, while in the Egypt's case, their support to the regime is obvious, despite public sympathy to the people in the streets. As a result, the Obama administration, and for that matter, the EU, particularly, Britain and France, have long, been aware of both the Sadat and Mubarak regimes blatant corruption, human right abuses, dictatorship etc.. However, they have never ever cared less for the people of Egypt as long as Camp David Accord is intact. This policy of supporting dictatorships has to be replaced with cooperation and peaceful relations with the Arab people.
