A Palestinian State In One Year? Where? By Ali Al-Hail Al-Jazeerah, CCUN, October 17, 2010Although, Israel's building of settlements in an occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, is considered as an illegal activity, by the International law, 'Israeli' Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, didn't agree to an extension of a partial ban on building illegal settlements, beyond Sep. 26th (albeit, the ban didn't include East Jerusalem). As a result, the peace talks are now stalled. The Obama's administration has yet, once more again, reinforced an all-time notorious fact, which is, 'Israel' is not merely, spoilt by the United States of America (or of 'Israel' as it quite often, seems ) but, that 'Israel' through its AIPAC, which makes the decision when it comes especially, to the Middle East, as John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt (2006) argued, amongst others. The Obama's administration, awarded 'Israel' for yet another wrecking in a long series, to the peace process (much less, the peace itself) by offering it apparently, whatever it wishes for, just to agree to a one-two-three month partial hold. The Obama's administration has nearly, as many joke, offered 'Israel' the birds' milk (which of course, doesn't exist). In an interview published on Wednesday, the' Israeli' ambassador to Washington said that the US had offered Israel "incentives" i.e., bribes, to renew the partial freeze. Michael Oren told the Washington Post that the Obama administration had come up with "a number of suggestions, incentives if you would, to the Israelis that would enable the government to maybe pass a limited extension of two or three months." Ambassador Oren, however, fell short of letting out further details on what those "incentives" might be, but one day later announced that Israel had signed a $2.75bn (£1.7bn) deal with the US to buy 20 F-35 fighter jets. "The signing... is an event of great strategic and historic significance," he said in the statement issued on Thursday. Describing the F-35 as the world's most advanced fighter, Mr Oren said it would boost Israel's ability to defend itself "against any threat or combination of threats, from anywhere within the Middle East." Since, the ultimate goal, from Obama's administration's point of view, out of the talks, is 'publicly' to establish a Palestinian state in the West Bank and East Jerusalm, it looks almost entirely, impossible, to embark on such an initiative. For; 'Israel' has more than 100 land-grabbed illegal settlements, with more than 500,000 Jews now live in them in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
