As the Israeli Occupation Regime Continues Annexation Plans, Soldiers Continue Abduction and Shooting of Palestinians

May 25, 2020

Editor's Note:

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of David, Solomon, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

The following news stories are just examples of the Israeli occupation government violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Shoot Palestinian Family Harvesting Wheat, Wounding Two

 May 25, 2020 11:04 PM  IMEMC News

Israeli occupation forces on Monday attacked a family of Palestinians who were harvesting wheat on their farmland near al-Mughayyir village east of Jerusalem. The Israeli army was apparently called in by Israeli settlers who had earlier tried to harass the Palestinian family.

Initially, the army issued a statement that two Palestinians tried to attack them with sickles (farming instruments used to harvest wheat). But eyewitness accounts paint a far different picture of what happened – and draw into question other statements by the Israeli military in which they claim they shot Palestinians ‘in self-defense’.

Illegal Israeli settlers have become emboldened in their assaults on Palestinians in recent weeks, with the Israeli administration of Binyamin Netanyahu allowing the violent attacks and even encouraging them. In this instance, the Israeli settlers, who had established a new colony nearby several days ago, came onto the Palestinian farmland to taunt and harass the family that was working on their farmland.

When they could not provoke a response from the Palestinians, they called in the army, who arrived on the scene and promptly shot two members of the farming family.

According to a report by the Israeli Ha’aretz newspaper, one of the men who was shot, identified as Murad, spoke to their reporters and told them, [the Israeli soldiers “started approaching us while telling us to sit down immediately. And then they shot three bullets at my brother Imad’s left leg. I went a little nearer and asked them to stop shooting him, and then they shot me in the stomach.”

The reporters also spoke with Murad’s wife, who said, “We were on our land, far from the settlement, and they came to us, not us to them”, and another eyewitness said, “To claim that he tried to stab a soldier while his wife and children and his whole family were there? It never happened. They’re trying to justify the shooting.”

Following the statement by the Israeli military, most Israeli military dutifully reported the statement as fact, with the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahranoth writing, “IDF troops fired on two Palestinians brandishing sickles who attempted to stab them as the soldiers carried out operational activity in the West Bank, near Ramallah. No Israeli soldiers were hurt in the attack and the two assailants managed to flee despite being hit by bullets.”

This was an obviously false account of the incident, but was reported by Yedioth Ahranoth and other outlets as if it were fact. Yedioth Ahranoth also claimed that this incident took place during a “riot by Palestinian youth”, another obvious falsehood, since the reality was that a Palestinian family was harvesting their wheat when they were antagonized by paramilitary colonial Israeli settlers, then shot by armed Israeli soldiers.

Only Ha’aretz took time to actually interview eyewitnesses and find out the truth of what happened – leading the army to retract its initial false statement.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Demolish Palestinian-owned Structures near Bethlehem

 May 25, 2020 7:10 PM  Ali Salam

Israeli occupation forces, on Monday, demolished a livestock barn and a tent, east of the southern occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported.

Sources said the structures were owned by a local Palestinian, who was detained for several hours before being released.

Palestinian security sources said the demolition was carried out under the pretext that they lacked an Israeli permit to build.

Sources told WAFA that Israeli occupation troops invaded the area, demolished the two structures and confiscated them.

The structures were built in the so-called “Area C”, which is under full Israeli civil and military rule.

Israeli forces frequently carry out demolitions against the Palestinian people, forcing them to find shelter elsewhere.

At the same time, Israel allows the construction and expansion of illegal colonies, built on occupied Palestinian lands, in violation of International law.

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip are considered protected persons under international law, namely the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Article 4 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states;

Armed Illegal Israeli Settlers Shoot, Injure Two Palestinian Youths

 May 25, 2020 6:18 PM  IMEMC & Agencies

Palestinian media reports said, earlier on Monday, that at least two Palestinians were shot and wounded by armed illegal Israeli settlers, in the village of al-Mughayyir, north of Ramallah city, in the central West Bank.

Palestinian chief for resisting the Israeli Apartheid Wall and illegal Israeli settlement construction, across the West Bank, Kathem Mohammad, told Palestinian WAFA News Agency that several armed Israeli colonists attacked a number of local Palestinian shepherds in the al-Mughayyir village, near Turmus Ayya village.

Mohammad noted that the illegal settlers used live ammunition to shoot the unarmed Palestinian men, one of whom was shot in the leg, while the other was shot in the abdomen.

He added that the two were transferred to the Palestine Medical Compound in nearby Ramallah city, before a contingent of Israeli troops arrived on the scene and began shooting tear gas canisters towards other local Palestinian residents, who were present during the settlers’ shooting.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority’s ministry of foreign affairs, released a statement, in which it strongly condemned what it termed frequent attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers’ militias, the shooting and wounding of two Palestinian residents.

The ministry’s statement, released shortly after the shooting attack, held Israeli troops responsible for those attacks, within what the statement described as Israeli protection of illegal Israeli settlers.

According to United Nations’ Security Council resolution, 242 of June 1967, Israel must immediately withdraw forces from the Arab lands it occupied in June 4 of that same year. Those Arab lands include the Palestinian East Jerusalem along with the rest of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Back in 2005, Israel disengaged from the Gaza Strip and dismantled 17 illegal settlements. Since 2007, Israel has been enforcing a strict blockade on the coastal enclave.

Israeli settlement construction, which began in the late 1970’s, has always been viewed by many world bodies, including international law, as illegal, and an impediment to the long-envisioned two-state solution.

Recently, Israel has signalled plans to annex large parts of the Palestinian West Bank and wrestle full Israeli control the area. Key international parties, including the European Union, Arab States’ League and others, have rejected such an Israeli announcement.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Abduct A Palestinian Mother And Her Teenage Daughter Near Jenin

 May 22, 2020 8:59 PM  IMEMC News

Israeli occupation soldiers invaded, Friday, the town of Ya’bad, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, before invading and ransacking a home, and abducted a mother and her teenage daughter.

Media sources in Jenin said that invasion into the town was carried out by more than 15 military vehicles, before dozens of soldiers surrounded a house and stormed it.

They added that the soldiers ransacked the property before dragging the mother, 45 years of age, and her teenage daughter, 16, out of their home, and placed them in one of their jeeps and drove away.

It is worth mentioning that this is the fourth time the soldiers abduct and detain the mother, and the second time they abduct her daughter.

The husband of the detained mother is also a political prisoner who was abducted on May 12th, and is currently held at the al-Jalama Israeli prison.

During the invasion into the town, the soldiers also stormed and ransacked many homes, causing excessive damage, and assaulting several Palestinians.

The invasion led to protests between many local youngsters, who hurled stones at the army jeeps, while the soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs.

Arab League Supports Palestine Against Israeli Annexation Plans

 May 22, 2020 6:51 AM  IMEMC & Agencies

The League of Arab States, comprising of 22 Arab countries, expressed, on Thursday, its full support for the Palestinian leadership, in the latter’s defiance of Israel’s plans, including the plan to annex parts of the West Bank and the Jordan Valley area of Al-Aghwar.

Said Abuali, Under-Secretary General of the Arab States League for Arab and Palestinian Territories’ Affairs, was quoted as stating that the Arab States back the latest decision by Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, in which the latter said that Palestinians are no longer abiding by previously-signed peace agreements with Israel and that they will no longer abide by understandings with the US, with respect to the situation in occupied Palestine.

The Arab League’s chief reiterated the Arab States’ commitment to the 2002 Arab initiative for peace in the Middle East, in which Arab countries accepted peace and normal relations with Israel, provided that Israel accepts a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine and withdraws forces from other Arab lands, including the Syrian Golan Heights.

Abuali also called on all other international players and relevant bodies to intervene by pressuring the Israeli government to refrain from any moves that would preempt peaceful solutions to the conflict, mainly annexing and wresting full control over the occupied Palestinian West Bank.

He held the Israeli government, as the occupying power, responsible for the Palestinian territories, in line with international law.

Recently, Israeli leaders have declared their intention to annex the West Bank in July of this summer.

The declaration has prompted the Palestinian leadership to detach itself from previously-signed peace accords with Israel and demand that Israel uphold its responsibilities for the occupied Palestinian territories.
