Scores of Syrians Killed, Tens of Thousands Flee Russian and Regime Air Strikes on the Idlib and Hama Countryside

Tens of thousands of Syrians flee Idlib and Hama countryside because of Russian
and regime air strikes, May 5, 2019
 

 

The following are news stories from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) website (http://www.syriahr.com/en/):

34 people were killed May 3, 2019, including 8 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and 26 other people

17 joined yesterday the convoy of casualties of the Syrian revolution.

In Idlib Province, 6 citizens were killed, they are 4 people including a woman were killed in bombardment by the helicopters on Ihsim town in Jabal al-Zawiyah, a citizen was killed in the fall of barrels on al-Hbit town, and a citizen was killed in the fall of barrel bombs over al-Mastumah.

In Hama Province, 10 citizens were killed, they are 4 people including 2 women in the Russian bombardment over Qlidin, and a woman and her child were killed in bombardment by the helicopters on al-Sahriyya, and 2 men were killed in targeting by the regime forces using a guided missile and rocket shells on Qal’aat al-Madiq town and its outskirts, and a woman was killed in the Russian targeting of Jub Suleiman, and a citizen was killed in the Russian strikes on al-Bwayb.

Further, a man from Sheikh Meskin town in the northwestern countryside of Daraa was killed under torture in regime’s detentions after 4 years of arrest.

Unidentified gunmen assassinated a former member of Jaysh al-Mutaz faction which carried out a “reconciliation and settlement” in Tafas town in the countryside of Daraa.

In addition, 3 fighters of the National Liberation Front factions were killed during clashes against the regime forces in Qal’aat al-Madiq area in Sahl al-Ghab.

While 5 of the jihadi groups were killed, 4 of them were killed during the Russian bombardment that targeted their positions in the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and a fighter was killed in the ground shelling by the regime forces on the northern countryside of Hama.

And the Syrian Observatory documented the killing of 8 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them in targeting, shelling, and clashes against the jihadi factions and groups within the “de-escalation” area.

Tens of thousands of people displace from their areas in Idlib and Hama countryside because of the most violent strikes within the “de-escalation” area, and the regime forces target a Turkish checkpoint in Hama countryside and causes injuries

On the 5th day of the most violent escalation, about 175 airstrikes by the Russian and regime's warplanes since the morning, along with the ground strikes claim the lives of about 10 civilians

The displacement of civilians from their towns and villages continues; as a result of the most intense aerial escalation within the “de-escalation” area since the start of Putin – Erdogan agreement, where tens of thousands of civilians have been displaced from their areas, and the Syrian Observatory learned that the displacement fully included Sahl al-Ghab northwest of Hama and Jabal Shashabo which stretches between Idlib and Hama countryside, in addition to a large section of Jabal al-Zawiyah as well as al-Hbit, Kafrsajna, Rakaya, Mdaya, Kafr Ayn and many other areas in the southern sector of Idlib countryside, also Kafr Nabudah town in the northern countryside of Hama witnessed an almost complete displacement due to this most violent escalation, where the displaced people are heading towards farmlands around their areas, staying out in the open to be followed and killed by the warplanes, while another section of them headed towards the north of Idlib to areas on the border with Iskenderun.

In the same context, the Syrian Observatory learned that at least one rocket shell was landed at the Turkish observation post in Shir Mghar in the western countryside of Hama, it was launched by the regime forces which caused injuries in the ranks of the Turkish members who were there, while the Sukhoi warplanes continue their intensive shelling of the countryside of Hama and Idlib, where it rose to 44, the number of raids since before the afternoon until now, they are: 6 raids carried out with high-explosive missiles on places in al-Hawash village in Sahl al-Ghab, 6 raids on al-Hwaiz, 6 raids on Kafrenbudeh, 4 on Kansafra and its surroundings, 4 on Maarzita and its outskirts, and 3 raids at least loaded with 2 missiles targeted each of the al-Mozra, Hersh Kafrnebbul, Kafrnebbul, outskirts of al-Bara, outskirts of Ihsim, al-Ftirah, and Hasanah, also the MIG warplanes of the regime carried out 16 raids since this morning, they are: 11 on Kafrenbudeh, 3 on al-Hbit, and 2 on Hawijah.

While it rose to 57, the number of barrel bombs dropped by helicopters on serval areas of the countryside of Hama and Idlib since the morning, they are 7 on the outskirts of Ihsim, 7 on Tremla, 6 on Deir Senbol, 5 on Om al-Sir, 4 on Abdita, 4 on Sheikh Mustafa, 3 on each of Sfohen Bsames, Karsaa, outskirts of Kafr Owaid, the vicinity of Kansafra, Qassabiyyeh, Maarzita, and Hass

Also it rose to 56 the number of raids carried out by Russian warplanes since this morning on the countryside of Hama, Idlib, and Aleppo, and they are: at least 6 raids targeted places on the outskirts and vicinity of Saraqib town east of Idlib at the international highway of Aleppo – Latakia, 9 raids on the outskirts of Hass town, 3 raids on al-Amqiyyeh in Sahl -Ghab, 3 on Kafrenbudeh, 6 on al-Rakaya, 3 on the outskirts of Kansafra, and 2 on each of al-Janudiyyeh, Tal al-Nar south of KafrSajneh, Kafr Owaid, Arnabah, Muhambal, Tal al-Nabi Ayoub area, Karsaa, Hersh Kafrnebbul, outskirts of Hazarin, al-Lajj, the Power Plant in Hama countryside, and Khas al-Asal and Kafrnaha in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The Syrian Observatory documented more human casualties against the backdrop of escalating aerial and ground shelling, where it rose to 9, the number of people who were killed in the shelling that targeted the countryside of Hama and Idlib, and they are 2 girls were killed in the Russian shelling at Mahmbel, a woman was killed in shelling by the helicopters on Sfohen, a man and a woman were killed in shelling by the regime forces on al-Hbit south of Idlib, a woman was killed in the ground shelling on al-Tawba village north of Hama, a man was killed in shelling by the Sukhoi warplanes on Hasanah village, a volunteer in a rescue team was killed in the Sukhoi’s shelling on al-Rakaya, and a girl was skilled in Sukhoi’s missiles which targeted al-Ftirah.

And with the fall of more casualties, it rose to at least 72, the number of people who were killed since the 30th of April 2019, the date of start of the most violent escalation in terms of aerial and ground bombardment, shelling, and targeting since Putin-Erdogan agreement, and they are: 44 civilians including 5 children and 12 citizen women, where 12 of them including 2 children and 3 women, another woman and two of her children, were killed in Russian aerial bombardment on the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and 15 including 5 women and a child girl were killed in the fall of barrel bombs, and 4 woman were killed in targeting by regime’s warplanes, also 10 people including 3 women were killed in a ground shelling carried out by the regime forces, while at least 13 of the jihadi groups were killed in the Russian airstrikes and the regime’s shelling, in addition to the killing of 12 members of the regime forces in targeting and shelling by jihadi groups and factions.

And with the fall of more casualties, the death toll rises in the heaviest continuous escalation on its 14th day, to 226 persons in the period since the morning of the 20th of April 2019, until the 3rd of May 2019, they are 93 civilians including 18 children and 22 women, were killed in the Russian air bombardment and regime forces’ shelling on areas in Aleppo, Hama, Latakia, and Idlib, including 4 civilians casualty was killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions on Aleppo city, and 19 people were killed in the explosion of a truck loaded with high-explosive materials owned by the jihadi groups in Jisr al-Shughur city west of Idlib, and 33 of the jihadi groups were killed in attacks and clashes against the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, and 3 of the factions were killed during clashes against the regime force, and 78 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them were killed in attacks by the jihadi groups on several areas of the demilitarized area.

And during the period between the 15th of February 2019 and the 2nd of May 2019, the Syrian Observatory documented the death of 601 people in the Russian – Turkish truce areas, they are 330 civilians including 89 children under the age of eighteen and 80 woman over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the Russian aerial bombardment and the rocket shelling by the regime forces and the factions, and among the death toll of civilians there are 28 people including 6 children under the age of eighteen and 5 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 104 fighters were killed in different conditions within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 67 fighters of the “jihadis” and 167 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.

While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the start of the Russian – Turkish truce the death of 831 people in areas of Erdogan – Putin agreement, they are: 411 civilians including 121 children and 92 women, were killed in shelling by the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them, targeting, and bombardment by warplanes, and among them there are 31 people including 6 children and 5 women, were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 171 fighters were killed in deferent circumstances within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 81 of the “Jihadi” fighters and 23 fighters of Jaysh al-Izza, who were killed in ambushes and clashes including a commander at least, they were killed in ambushes and attack by the regime forces in the northern countryside of Hama, and 249 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.
