Iraqi army launched a security operation to chase (alleged) members of the Islami State in the Kubaisa desert in Al-Anbar Province, in western Iraq.

This is despite the announcement that the military operations ended by restoring the ISIS territories to the Iraqi state.

أطلقت القوات الأمنية اليوم الإثنين عملية عسكرية لملاحقة عناصر تنظيم الدولة “داعش” في صحراء كبيسة غربي محافظة الأنبار. وقالت وزارة الدفاع العراقية في بيان لها إن “فرقة المشاة السابعة أطلقت عملية أمنية واسعة لملاحقة عناصر تنظيم الدولة (داعش)”. وأضافت أن “قوات الجيش بدأت عمليات تمشيط صحراء كبيسة وصولاً إلى منطقة الحسينيات للبحث والتفتيش عن عناصر التنظيم في الصحراء الغربية ومطاردتهم” بحسب قولها. وعلى الرغم من إستعادة المناطق التي كان يسيطر عليها تنظيم الدولة “داعش” وإعلان القوات الأمنية إنتهاء العمليات العسكرية، إلا أن المناطق الصحراوية تشهد بين فترة وأخرى عمليات عسكرية تنفذها القوات الأمنية.

U.S. airstrike kills 16 (Alleged Islamic State Members) in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) –

Sixteen (Alleged Islamic State Members) were killed Monday in an airstrike by the U.S.-led international coalition on a terrorist hotbed in Nineveh province, federal police said.

In a press release carried by Alsumaria News TV channel, the Security Media Cell said that 16 (Alleged Islamic State Members) were killed inside a tunnel that was targeted by warplanes of the U.S.-led international coalition in al Kosb valley in Nineveh.

“The military operation was carried out based on intelligence information,” the statement read, without giving further details.

The Islamic State group appeared on the international scene in 2014 when it seized large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria, declaring the establishment of an Islamic “caliphate” from Mosul city.

Later on, the group has become notorious for its brutality, including mass killings, abductions and beheadings, prompting the U.S. to lead an international coalition to destroy it.

Iraqi paramilitary fighters kill two (Alleged Islamic State Members) in Salahuddin

Iraqi paramilitary Hashd Shaabi fighters killed on Wednesday two (Alleged Islamic State Members) in Salahuddin province.

The two terrorists, identified as Abdullah Mohamed al-Jabouri and Bassam Mohamed al-Jabouri, were plotting to carry out terrorist attacks against civilians in al-Shirqat town in Salahuddin, according to a statement by the pro-government fighters.

The operation, according to the statement, was carried out based on intelligence information.

Iraq declared the collapse of Islamic State’s territorial influence in November 2017 with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.

Iraqi police kill three (Alleged Islamic State Members) in Kirkuk

Iraqi police forces killed on Tuesday three (Alleged Islamic State Members) and destroyed their hotbeds during a security campaign in Kirkuk province.

“A police force stormed on Tuesday morning several terrorist hotbeds of the Islamic State group in Alaf village in Kirkuk after receiving intelligence information on the presence of IS militants there,” Almaalomah website quoted the Federal Police Command as saying in a press statement.

The operation resulted in killing three IS militants and destroying their terrorist hotbeds, the statement read.

The troops also found a large cache of weapons and ammunition at the scene, the statement added.
