Warsaw Conference Condemned by Palestinian Authority, 15,000 Illegal Israeli Settlement Units Built on Palestinian Lands During 2018

February 10, 2019

Editor's Note:

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of David, Solomon, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

The following news stories are just examples of the Israeli occupation government violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

EU Report: Over 15,000 Settlement Units Built During 2018

February 8, 2019 6:10 AM IMEMC News & Agencies

The advancement of settlement units continued at an unprecedented high level during the second half of 2018 (July-December), according to a recent EU report on Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

More than 7,000 units in the occupied West Bank (4,350), including East Jerusalem (2,900), were advanced in different stages of the planning and implementation process (tenders and plans),

The report said that several important developments took place during the reporting period. In East Jerusalem, Israeli High Court decisions brought between 600 and 700 Palestinians at risk of being evicted in Batan al Hawa (close to the Old city) and families in Sheikh Jarrah (32 persons) lost their final appeal against eviction. A development that will deepen the Israel control of East Jerusalem and the Old City Bassin.

In December, the Israeli government announced that it would allocate land at the Givat Eitam outpost site for the purpose of planning a new settlement in the strategic “E2” area, that potentially will cut off Bethlehem from the southern West Bank, completing the near encirclement of Bethlehem by Israeli settlements.

The many settlement approvals also included plans that will effectively regulate two new settlements (by legalizing the unauthorized outposts of Ibei Hanachal and Gva’ot) and establish two new settlement industrial zones (one near the Beitar Illit settlement and one near the Avnei Hefetz settlement).

The total advancement of settlement units in 2018 (January-December) amounted to more than 15,800 units (9,400 units in the West Bank and 6,400 units in East Jerusalem). The figures show a sharp spike in planning for future construction. This development will, over several years, enable potentially more than 60,0001 Israeli settlers to move to the Occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

According to the PNN, there are currently approximately 215,000 Israelis living in East Jerusalem, while the settler population in Area C in the occupied West Bank, excluding East Jerusalem, is some 413,0002 . This brings the settler population to approximately 630,000 Israeli settlers in 143 settlement locations in the West Bank (132) including East Jerusalem (11)3 and 106 outposts.

Settlements are illegal under international law as reaffirmed by UN Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016) and the developments on the ground make the prospect of a two-state solution, with Jerusalem as the future capital of both states, increasingly unattainable.

Foreign Ministry: Warsaw Conference is an American Conspiracy

February 8, 2019 5:51 AM IMEMC News & Agencies

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said, on Thursday, that the upcoming Warsaw conference called for by the United States is an American conspiracy intended to get the participants to adopt the US views on issues of the region, particularly the Palestine question.

The ministry said in a statement, “This is an American conspiracy aimed at preventing participants in the conference from taking independent and free decisions on core issues based on their principled positions such as the Palestinian issue.”

The statement said, according to Ma’an, that the State of Palestine will not deal with any outcome from this conference, or any other similar meetings planned by the US administration, and will act as if the Warsaw conference had never taken place.

“The US Administration keeps talking and bragging about preparation of a ‘conference’ in Warsaw, which it claims will address the Middle East issue, that is the Palestinian issue.”

The statement added that the US administration has “declared war” on the Palestinian issue from day one.

It stressed that “the malicious intentions of this administration were reiterated by US President Donald Trump in his State of the Union speech to Congress in which he stressed continuing with the policy of absolute bias toward Israel.”

It also said that as a result of this, “The State of Palestine’s position towards such conferences designed to undermine and liquidate our cause is that it will not deal with the illegal conference outputs, which will not be binding or of concern to us.”

US Blocks UN Motion against Israeli Expulsion of TIPH Monitors

February 8, 2019 5:29 AM IMEMC News & Agencies Hebron,

The US has blocked yet another UN Security Council (UNSC) draft resolution that would condemn Israel for expelling an international observer group tasked with safeguarding Palestinians, in the flashpoint West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

Kuwait and Indonesia presented the motion on Wednesday, after a closed-door UNSC meeting on the Tel Aviv regime’s recent decision to suspend the mandate of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH).

UN diplomats said Washington did not believe a Security Council statement was appropriate regarding the issue.

The draft resolution, seen by AFP, expressed “regret” about Israel’s “unilateral decision” to boot TIPH observers out of al-Khalil and urged “calm and restraint”, there.

It also stressed “the importance of the mandate of the TIPH and its efforts to foster calm in a highly sensitive area and fragile situation on the ground, which risks further deteriorating,” warning Israel that it has an obligation under international law “to protect the Palestinian civilian population” in al-Khalil and the rest of the West Bank.

Security Council President Anatolio Ndong Mba said that the countries had “exchanged different views” about Israel’s decision during Wednesday’s meeting.

“There was almost unanimity in the concern for the situation,” he added.

The TIPH was set up in 1994, when an Israeli settler killed 29 Palestinian worshipers at the Ibrahimi Mosque, in al-Khalil.

The mission did not start its work until 1998, after the Israeli military refused to leave al-Khalil following the establishment of an illegal Israeli settlement at the heart of the city.

TIPH’s mandate is renewed every six months. Its latest mandate ended on January 31.

Two ISM Members Abducted for Securing Movement of Palestinian Students

February 8, 2019 5:24 AM IMEMC News & Agencies

Two members of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) were detained by Israeli soldiers, on Thursday, while securing movement of elementary school students in the Israeli occupied section of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, according to a local rights activist.

Human Rights Defender Imad Abu Shamsieh said, according to WAFA correspondence, that Israeli forces detained the two international activists, one American and the other Italian, while they were near Qurtoba Elementary School, located near the illegal Beit Hadasa Jewish settlement,  to oversee the Palestinian students as they leave their school, to make sure no harm will be done to them from the Israeli army or settlers.

The two ISM members were doing the work that was done in the past by members of the international civilian monitoring force, the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), which had to leave Hebron after 22 years of operation following Israel’s refusal last month to renew its mandate.
