3 Killed and 7 wounded in "Transitional" forces failed attack on a checkpoint east of "Ataq" Shabwa

Three members of the forces of what is known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC) were killed and seven others wounded on Sunday after the legitimate government forces repelled an attack launched by the first on the Jalafuz and Tabat al-Ersal points, east of The City of Ataq, shabwa governorate, south-east Yemen.

A military source told Al-Masdar Online that the militants launched an attack at 2 p.m., after which violent clashes broke out between the two sides that lasted an hour.

Government forces were able to repel the attack, and the UAE-backed transitional forces suffered heavy casualties and losses, he said.

Three militants were killed and seven members of the transitional force were injured, the source said, adding that 25 prisoners were captured by government forces.

According to the source, the army took control of weapons and ammunition from the attacking forces, including 17 vehicles, 3 armored vehicles, as well as rocket launchers and a large quantity of ammunition, left behind by Southern Transitional forces after they fled.

Hodeidah: Houthis shells joint forces in Tahita, Hees and east of the city

On Sunday, Houthi militias intensified their shelling with heavy and medium-range weapons on the positions of joint forces in the districts of Hees, Tahita and the outskirts of the western Yemeni city of Hodeida.

Field sources told Al-Masdar Online that Houthi militias intensified their heavy shelling on Sunday on the positions of the joint forces east and north of Hees district south of Hodeidah.

Al-Houthi militias also continued their artillery shelling on joint forces positions on Sunday in al-Faza area west of Tahita district from positions east of the directorate.

In addition, Houthi militias today intensified their shelling of joint forces positions in the Kilo 16 area and east of al-Saleh on the outskirts of Hodeidah.

In their shelling of villages, residential neighborhoods and joint force positions, the Houthis use 120-caliber and 82-caliber mortars, Howitzer, B10, 14.5-caliber and 12.7-caliber machine guns, bika machinguns and sniper weapons.

Central Security official killed by explosive device in Taiz

A security official in Southwestern Yemen's Taiz province was killed when an explosive device planted on a highway near the old airport area west of the city.

A medical source at The Central Prison Hospital in Taiz told Al-Masdar online that the central prison security officer, Lieutenant Akram Razaz Seif, was killed by an explosive device planted on 30th Street while he was passing by his motorcycle in the area at 10 a.m.

He added that the officer's body was taken to Al-Thawra General Hospital.

The device was probably the remnants of the canisters and mines planted by Houthi militias in the streets and neighborhoods of Taiz.

Another explosive device exploded in the area this morning, causing no casualties, he said.

He appealed to all concerned authorities to save their lives and children and intervene to remove and clear the mines left by the Houthi terrorist militias in the area.

Transitional militants killed and wounded in ambush on their reinforcement in Abyan

On Saturday, military reinforcements belonging to the so-called Southern Transitional Council (STC) were ambushed by tribal gunmen in al-Mahafad district of Abyan province, southern Yemen, killing and wounding others.

Local sources told Al-Masdar Online that reinforcements of Transitional forces were ambushed as they passed through the Al-Mahfad area, coming from the interim capital Aden, which is under transitional control, on their way to reinforce forces loyal to the UAE in Shabwa province.

The sources said a large number of people were killed and wounded and five of their vehicles were destroyed.

A medical source at Modya Hospital told Al-Masdar Online that five of the wounded arrived at the hospital, which turned out to be victims of the ambush targeting transitional gunmen, adding: "Other wounded may have been taken to another hospital."

The transitional dispatch of reinforcements followed the loss of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province, by government forces who took control of the STC headquarters and the most important points and military barracks in which they were stationed in the city.

Since Thursday evening, the city of Ataq has been the scene of violent clashes between government forces and UAE-backed southern transitional forces who have tried to storm the city under the control of the legitimate government.

Saudi airport, airbase in Asir targeted by Yemenis

Spokesman for the Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said that a number of Qasef-2K drones targeted the Abha Airport and the King Khalid Airbase in Saudi Arabia’s Asir region.

The strike on the airport hit its control tower, said the spokesman, which led to halt all flights in/out of the airport. The attack on King Khalid Airbase also targeted its control tower, he added.

“We assure Saudi regime that our attacks will not stop as long as their aggression continues,” Brigadier Sare’e concluded.

In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.

Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.

Yemeni Air Force Carries Out Fresh Attack on King Khalid Air Base, Asir

The Air Force of the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees, on Saturday, conducted retaliatory attacks on an airbase in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern province of Asir, using a squadron of domestically-manufactured combat drones.

A spokesman for the Armed Forces Brigadier, General Yahya Sare’e, said in a brief statement that a number of Qasef-2K drones carried out airstrikes against King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.

He added that the drones hit fighter jets hangers and runways at the base. He confirmed that all drones successfully hit their designated targets.

Sare’e said the attacks were in response to “the US-Saudi ongoing aggression and siege on Yemen.”

For its part, air traffic watch centers showed disturbance in airplane routes after Qasef-2K attack on the Saudi base, noting that a plane that was about to land at Abha Airport near King Khalid Air Base returned to where it had taken off in Jeddah International Airport. Moreover, an Egyptian Airlines flight has orbited several times before leaving Abha city in conjunction with the attack on King Khalid Air Base.

The Air Force carried out two attacks on Thursday with a number of Qasef-2K against vital targets in King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushayt, where one of the drones hit the base’s communications system while others targeted its fuel tanks and a gas station at the base. All drones successfully hit their designated targets.

US-Saudi Hostile Spy Drone Downed in Hajjah

Air Defenses of the Army and Popular Committees on Friday shot down a hostile spy plane in Hajjah.

A military source reported that the air defenses of the Yemeni Army and the Popular Committees were able to shoot down a spy plane operated by the forces of the Saudi-led coalition in Haradh district.

Air Defenses also, on Tuesday, downed a US-made drone, MQ-9, on Dhammar governorate.

The Saudi-led coalition and its mercenaries, on Friday, continued to launch raids and bomb a number of provinces, causing material damage to public and private property.

In Amran, the US-backed coalition launched 4 airstrikes on Harf Sufyan district, destroying a bridge linking the governorates of Amran and Saada.

In Saada, the Saudi-led coalition launched an airstrike on Haidan district. In Hajjah, the aerial aggression launched a strike on Haradh district.

In Hodeidah, the Saudi/UAE mercenaries fired more than 30 artillery shells on the besieged city of Duraimi. The mercenaries also fired 12 artillery shells at Al-Dhabyani neighborhood, Al-Qemma Hotel and Mobile Round. They bombed nine mortar shells northwest of the district of Hays. They also shelled the Faculty of Engineering, Al-Wahyeen Mosque and Al-Dhabyani neighborhood in Yolio residential area.

Health Ministry: 1037 Citizens Have Died of Cholera and Diphtheria since Beginning of 2019

Ministry of Health spokesman, Dr. Yousef Al-Hadhri, announced the death of 818 citizens of cholera and 219 deaths of diphtheria, most of them children, in all governorates since the beginning of this year, 2019.

Al-Hadhri said in a special statement to the Yemeni Press Agency that the highest percentage of deaths is in Ibb governorate (113 cases and 89 deaths. Dhamar governorate comes second after Ibb whereas the number of people infected with cholera epidemic reached 583416 cases,146317 quick examinations of cases were reached and positive cases amounted to 88,262 during the same period.

He also noted that 3941 cases of diphtheria were recorded in all provinces. Ibb province also has the highest number of cases with 641 cases, followed by Hodeidah province with 560 cases.
