Nine Islamic State members, including suicide attacker, killed, west of Kirkuk

Nine Islamic State militants, including a suicide attacker, have been killed in an operation, west of Kirkuk, the pro-government paramilitary troops announced.

In a statement, the media service of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) said, “an ambush was set, depending on information from the intelligence, leaving nine IS members killed in Wadi al-Rahma, north of al-Zab town in Hawija. One of them was a suicide attacker.”

No further details were provided.

On Wednesday, a security source was quoted saying that Federal Police forces engaged with IS elements in Altun Kupri, northwest of the province, leaving three militants dead.

Earlier this week, around 20 IS militants were killed as Iraqi forces, backed by PMFs, clashed with IS militants at al-Saadiya village in Hawija, news reported quoted sources as saying. 15 others are still trapped inside the village. PMFs media service said on Saturday that troops, assisted by Federal Police troops, killed five members of IS and besieged two others during a raid on their hideout in Tuwairiya, Abbasi, northwest of Hawija.

Thousands of IS militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition, was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group.

In December, Abadi announced full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members. However, Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.

Three Islamic State militants killed in operation, northeast of Diyala

Three Islamic State members were killed, while rest houses and a weapon store were destroyed in an operation, northeast of Diyala, the security committee of the provincial council, said on Thursday.

Speaking to Alghad Press, Sadiq al-Husseini, head of the committee, said, “joint troops, along with al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) carried out today an operation to follow IS members in regions of al-Tabj, Mardan reaching to Hamreen, northeast of Diyala.”

“The operation left three members killed, two rest houses and a weapon store destroyed,” he said.

Thousands of IS militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition, was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group.

Tens of Islamic State militants killed as attack repulsed, west of Mosul

The pro-government paramilitary troops have announced repelling an attack by Islamic State, killing tens of militants, west of Mosul.

A statement by the media service of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) said, “the fifth brigade foiled, today, a fierce attack by Islamic State against Sinjar town.”

“Tens of militants were killed,” it added.

On Tuesday, an IS emir was arrested in an operation in south of Mosul, the military intelligence department announced Moreover, the Nineveh Operations command said 26 people were arrested in western Mosul over their suspected affiliation with the Islamic State,

Earlier this week, Hassan al-Sabaawi, member of Nineveh provincial council, warned against appearance of IS militants.

Three Islamic State suicide attackers killed in operation, south of Salahuddin

Three Islamic State suicide attackers have been killed in an operation in south of Salahuddin province, Shiite militias announced on Wednesday.

“After information was collected about the presence of suicide bombers in a rest house in Jazirat al-Is-haqi region, combat troops headed toward the rest house and cordoned it,” a statement by Saraya al-Salam militias said.

“Clashes lasted for 15 minutes, during which troops managed to kill the suicide attackers. No casualties were reported among the civilians,” it added.

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.

These strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the operation to destroy Daesh in Iraq and Syria.  The destruction of Daesh targets in Iraq and Syria also further limits the group’s ability to project terror and conduct external operations throughout the region and the rest of the world.
 
This Coalition strike release contains all strikes conducted by fighter, attack, bomber, rotary-wing, or remotely piloted aircraft, rocket propelled artillery and ground-based tactical artillery.
