Scores of Syrians and Russian Muslims Killed in Idlib, Hammouriah, and Other Cities by Regime, Russian, US-Led Air Strikes January 4, 2018 Editor's Note: The following news stories are just examples of the daily horrors of war in Syria. Readers can find more detailed daily news stories at the sources below as well as many other sources in the internet.
The following are news stories from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) website (http://www.syriahr.com/en/): *** The death toll continues to rise in Idlib city and reaches 43 people at least including 27 civilians mostly children and women SOHR, 08/01/2018 Idlib Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: with the death of more civilians as a result of the explosion that hit Idlib city about 24 hours ago, and recovering more corpses from under the rubble, the number of casualties in Idlib city continues to rise, where the number of people who were killed in the explosion which hit the 30th Street in Idlib city rose to 43 at least including 27 citizens at least; including 14 children and 7 citizen women, and the death toll is expected to increase as a result of presence of dozens of injured people in serious conditions, in addition to the missing people under the rubble caused by the explosion. While the rescue teams are still searching under the rubbles that caused by the explosion that hit the headquarters of Ajnad al-Quqaz faction (The Caucasian Soldiers), and it is not known until now whether the explosion caused by detonating a booby trapped vehicle or a missile fired by warplane, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored large destruction caused by the explosion, while it worth mentioning that Idlib city witnessed explosions targeted several areas in the city and its outskirts weeks ago, some of which were targeted by vehicles, cars carrying commanders and members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and other factions supporting it, and these explosions left causalities. 46 were killed yesterday including 15 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and 21 civilians SOHR, 07/01/2018 In Rif Dimashq Province 17 citizens were killed, they are 12 people including 2 children and 3 people were killed in a massacre carried out by warplanes in Hammuriyyeh city, 3 citizens were killed in the raids that targeted areas in Arbin city, and 2 citizens were killed a in the raids that targeted Madyara town. In Damascus Province a person was killed in the fall of shells on places in the industrial area of city Damascus. In Daraa Province a young man was found dead in the northwestern countryside of Daraa, his body was found in Inkhil area but no information about the reasons of his death. In Aleppo Province the body of a dead man was found in al-Bab area in the countryside of Aleppo, he was found with a phrase that says “this Kharijite A.E.Sh of Daraa is killed” In Idlib Province a citizen was killed in bombardment by warplanes on areas in Kafrnebbul in the countryside of Idlib. While it rose to at least 57 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, including 7 officers at least including 5 brigadiers, who were killed in shelling and clashes in the Eastern Ghouta since the 29th of December 2017, while it rose to at least 80, the number of fighters of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, Al-Rahman Corps, who were killed in the fronts of Vehicle Department, Province Building, and Air Intelligence vicinity, including fighter of Saudi nationality who blew himself up in a booby trapped vehicle on the first day of the attack, which led to the siege of the Vehicle Department And 10 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them were killed in shelling and clashes against the “Islamic State” organization and the factions. And at least 6 fighters of the “Islamic State” organization and the factions of non-Syrian nationalities were killed in clashes, bombing by warplanes and helicopter and shelling on areas of their presence. More massacres and killing by raids and ground shelling kill 16 citizens today and raise the death toll to 120 civilian casualties during 11 days of escalating the shelling on the Eastern Ghouta SOHR, 08/01/2018 Rif Dimashq Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the warplanes are continuing to fly over the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, in conjunction with carrying out more strikes on areas in it, in which they targeted places in Douma city by a raid, while the number of raids which targeted areas in Harasta city and its vicinity, has increased to 36 raids at least since morning, in conjunction with the continuation of the rocket shelling on the city, where it has increased to 45, the number of shells which fired by the regime forces on Harasta city since morning, which resulted in the fall of wounded, also the number of raids that targeted Arbin city since morning has increased to 3, while the regime forces targeted Madyara town and its outskirts by more than 25 shells, and the regime forces also targeted areas in the cities and the towns of Saqba, Hamouriya, Kafr Batna, Hazza and Jisrayn intensively by shells, in the same context, the violent clashes are still continuing between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them against Hayaat Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, Al-Rahman Corps, in areas west of the Vehicle Department near Harasta, accompanied by exchange of targeting and shelling between the both parties and information about human losses. This continuous bombardment by warplanes resulted in the death of more citizens, in which the number of casualties who were killed today and were documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, rose to 16 citizens including 5 children and 2 citizen women, and the casualties are: 6 citizens including a citizen woman and 3 of her children were killed by bombardment by warplanes on Douma city, 3 casualties including a child were killed due to a raid targeted Madyara town, 3 persons were killed due to bombardment targeted Saqba city, a citizen woman was killed as a result of shelling by the regime forces on areas in Hamouriya city, and 3 persons including a child girl died affected by the injury they had as a result of shelling and raids targeted the cities of Douma and Arbin as well as Madyara town yesterday, and the bombardment resulted in the injury of about 40 persons with varying severity, while the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of a large number of injuries, some of whom have seriously wounded. Thus, the death toll has increased to 119 citizens including 29 children and 26 citizen women, who have been killed since the 29th of December 2017 and until now, and the casualties are 90 citizens including 24 children, 22 citizen women and a male nurse, they were killed in raids by the warplanes on areas in Harasta city controlled by the Islamic movement of Ahrar Al-Sham and raids on Madyara town, and 29 citizens including 5 children and 4 citizen women and 2 male nurses were killed by artillery and rocket shelling targeted areas in Beit Sawa town, the cities of Harasta, Hamuriya, Douma and Arbin as well as the towns of Kafr Batna, Mesraba, Al-Nashabiyah and Otaya, and the aerial and artillery shelling left tens of casualties and wounded included a large number of children and citizen women, and the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries. These ongoing and violent battles between the regime forces against the factions in the Eastern Ghouta have increased the number of human losses in both of their ranks, where it rose to at least 72 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, including 7 officers at least including 5 brigadiers, who were killed in shelling and clashes in the Eastern Ghouta since the 29th of December 2017, while it rose to at least 87, the number of fighters of Hayaat Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, Al-Rahman Corps, who were killed in the fronts of Vehicle Department, Province Building, and Air Intelligence vicinity, including a Saudi fighter who blew himself up in a booby trapped vehicle on the first day of the attack, which led to the siege of the Vehicle Department, and the SOHR documented human losses of both parties on the front of Al-Marj area where 2 fighters of Jaysh Al-Islam were killed in shelling and clashes in Al-Marj area, during the fight against the regime forces and their allied militiamen, the same clashes where 17 members of the regime forces were killed, also tens of both parties were injured. *** The following are news stories from the US Department of Defense website (http://www.defense.gov/News) : *** US-Led Military Strikes Continue Against ISIS in Syria, Iraq From a Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve News Release SOUTHWEST ASIA, Jan. 5, 2018 — .S. and coalition military forces continued to attack the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria between Dec. 29, 2017, and yesterday, conducting 58 strikes consisting of 84 engagements. Officials reported details of the most recent strikes, noting that assessments of results are based on initial reports. Strikes in Syria On Jan. 4, near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted four strikes consisting of five engagements against ISIS target, destroying an ISIS supply route, a fighting position and a vehicle-borne bomb. On Jan. 3, near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted nine strikes consisting of 12 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying two ISIS lines of communication, a heavy weapon, four fighting positions, an ISIS vehicle, a logistics center and an ISIS supply route. On Jan. 2, near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted nine strikes consisting of 10 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS supply route, an indirect fire weapon, two fighting positions, two heavy machine guns, two unmanned aerial vehicles and an ISIS line of communication. On Jan. 1, near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted four strikes consisting of six engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS command-and-control center, two fighting positions, an ISIS vehicle, two heavy machine guns and three ISIS tunnel entrances. On Dec. 31, near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted eight strikes consisting of eight engagements against ISIS targets, destroying a heavy weapon, an ISIS headquarters, eight ISIS supply routes, a fighting position and two ISIS-held buildings. On Dec. 30, near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted 10 strikes consisting of 17 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying two ISIS command-and-control centers, a fighting position, an ISIS headquarters and two ISIS vehicles. On Dec. 29 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted 10 strikes consisting of 15 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying nine ISIS fighting positions and two logistics centers. Strikes in Iraq There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq Jan. 1-4. On Dec. 31, near Beiji, coalition military forces conducted a strike consisting of four engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS fighting position. On Dec. 30, coalition military forces conducted three strikes consisting of seven engagements against ISIS targets: -- Near Beiji, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed an ISIS tunnel system. -- Near Mosul, two strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed five ISIS fighting positions, two tunnel entrances and a weapons cache.
