Daily Killing of Scores of Syrians Continues by Assassinations, Air Strikes, and Clashes

The following are news stories from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) website (http://www.syriahr.com/en/):

11 people were killed on August 19, 2018, including 4 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, and 7 persons were killed in different circumstances in several Syrian areas

It rose to one person, the number of those who joined yesterday the convoy of martyrs of the Syrian revolution

In Al-Hasakah province, a citizen was killed under torture in the Syrian security detention centers.

And 4 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen were killed in shelling and clashes against ISIS and the factions.

And at least 6 fighters of ISIS and the factions of non-Syrian nationalities were killed in clashes and bombardment of warplanes and helicopters and shelling on their areas of presence.

31 people were killed on August 18, 2018, including 7 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, and 5 persons were killed in different circumstances in several Syrian areas

In Daraa province, 2 citizens were killed under torture in the Syrian security detention centers.

And in Al-Quneitra province, a person died affected by the injury as a result of an earlier IED explosion in Al-Hamriya area in the northern sector of Al-Quneitra countryside.

Also the reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the finding of the bodies of 2 persons in Ein Tarma area in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, which was controlled by Al-Rahman Corps, before it was displaced towards the Syrian North, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; the two bodies are of Sheikh Abd Al-Khaliq Wahba and Sheikh Ahmed Wahba, who were arrested by the security body of Al-Rahman Corps before evacuating those who refused the agreement of Al-Ghouta to the Syrian North, and reliable sources confirmed to the SOHR that the abovementioned persons were executed and buried in Ein Tarma area.

While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the assassination of a member from the regime forces in Masyaf area in the western countryside of Hama, where unidentified gunmen shot at member of the regime’s military intelligence on the road leading to Be’erin area, which caused his immediate death but no information about the causes and motives of the assassination, or the identity of the perpetrators of this assassination which were carried out in the southern countryside of Masyaf city.

And the SOHR also documented the death of 6 members at least of the “Islamic State” organization as a result of shelling and clashes against the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them in Rif Dimashq Desert.

Also, the Syrian Observatory also documented the killing of at least 7 members of the “Islamic State” organization and information about casualties in the ranks of the Coalition Forces and the Syria Democratic Forces.

And 7 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen were killed in shelling and clashes against ISIS and the factions.

And at least 5 fighters of ISIS and the factions of non-Syrian nationalities were killed in clashes and bombardment of warplanes and helicopters and shelling on their areas of presence.

36 were killed on August 17, 2018, including 6 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and 18 members of the “Islamic State” organization

It rose to 2, the number of who joined yesterday the convoy of casualties of the Syrian revolution.

In Homs Province a lawyer died of a gunshot wound in the center of Homs city, where sources suggested that he was hit randomly by mistake.

In Hama Province the body of a young man from Kafr Nabudah town in the northern countryside of Hama was found dead near al-Tawba village, but no information about the cause and circumstances of his death.

The Syrian Observatory also documented the killing of at least 18 members of the “Islamic State” Organization, the majority of whom were of non-Syrian nationality, because of the strikes that targeted their place within al-Sousah town in the enclave that still controlled by the “Islamic State” organization east of Euphrates River.

At least 7 members of the “Islamic State” organization were killed in shelling and clashes against the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them in Rif Dimashq Desert.

And 6 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them were killed in shelling and clashes against the “Islamic State” organization and the factions.

At least 3 members of the “Islamic State” organization and the factions of non-Syrian nationalities were killed in clashes and shelling by warplanes and helicopters and shelling on areas of their presence.

8 assassinations targeted members of Hurras al-Dien organization, Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and Jaysh al-Nukhba in the past 24 hours in Idlib province

Idlib Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The sound of an explosion and gunfire was heard in Kafr Takharim area, which is located in the north-western sector of Idlib countryside, caused by a new attack by unidentified gunmen believed to be cells of the “Islamic State” organization, where the gunmen targeted a checkpoint of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, which resulted in the death of 2 members, raising to at least 8, the number of people assassinated today, Monday the 20th of August 2018, they are: two of Hurras al-Dien Organization, 3 members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, and 3 fighters of Jaysh al-Nukhba, thus, it rose to at least 278, the number of people who were assassinated in Idlib countryside and both Aleppo and Hama countryside.

Tthey are the wife of an Uzbek commander and his son, in addition to 55 civilians including 8 children and 6 women, of who were assassinated through bomb explosions, IED detonations, shooting, abduction, murder and then throwing the bodies in remote areas, and 192 fighters of Syrian nationality belong to Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, al-Sham Corps, the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham, Jaysh al-Izza, and other factions operating in Idlib, and 29 fighters of Uzbek, Asian, Gulf, Jordanian and Caucasian nationalities have been assassinated in the same ways since the 26th of April 2018, also the assassination attempts have injured tens of people with varying severity, while the factions stepped up their raids and operations against sleeper cells they accused of belonging to the “Islamic State” organization.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on the 18th of August 2018, Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham executing six young men, of who were arrested on charges of “belonging to cells of the Islamic State organization”, which carried out tens of assassinations, killed and wounded hundreds of fighters, civilians and Syrian and non-Syrian leaders, where the Observatory monitored their execution by shooting them collectively after accusing them of “planting explosive devices and killing Muslims”. This execution comes in a continuation of executions that targeted tens of people who were arrested by Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, some of them were executed immediately after being arrested and others were executed after interrogation.

While some were killed during the clashes when raiding headquarters of these cells which belong to the “Islamic State” organization, and with the execution and death of more cells members of the organization  it rose to 72 at least, the number of members of ISIS and these cells who have been killed since the end of April 2018, of Syrian, Iraqi, and other non-Syrian nationalities, including at least 35 who were executed through slaughter or direct gunfire after capturing them, while the rest were killed during raids and exchange of gunfire between these cells and members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in the areas of Salqin, Sarmin, Sahel al-Rouj and several other areas in the countryside of Idlib, also, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham.

The other factions are continuing to carry out security operations, through which they aim to arrest and detect “sleeper cells” responsible for the assassinations, which included the execution of 4 members of these cells, and they were beheaded in a response to the execution and murder of tens of commanders and members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, civilians citizens, and fighters of various Syrian and non-Syrian factions, while these escalated murders coincided with massive assassinations which caused chaos and insecurity in Idlib province and in the areas adjacent to it from the north and central of Syria, which raised the citizens’ resentment because of the inability of the factions to control the security and prevent these assassinations from happening again.

Islamic State militants killed, as Iraqi jets carry out airstrike in Syria

Iraqi fighter jets have shelled an Islamic State task force in Syria, the Interior Ministry’s Security Media Center said, adding that the militants were planning for an operation using explosive belts inside Iraq over the coming few days.

In a statement on Thursday, the center said, “based on instructions of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and under supervision of the Joint Operations Command, the Iraqi jets carried out a successful airstrike in Syria, depending on information from the Interior Ministry. The strike targeted Islamic State’s task force, destroying it completely. Several militants were killed.”

Operation Roundup Continues to Target ISIS Remnants

August 21, 2018, SOUTHWEST ASIA --

Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve and its partners continue to pursue the lasting defeat of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in designated parts of Syria and Iraq, task force officials reported today.

Operation Roundup, which began May 1 to accelerate the defeat of ISIS in the Middle Euphrates River Valley and Iraq-Syria border region, has continued to gain ground and remove (ISIS) from the battlefield through offensive operations coupled with precision coalition strike support, officials said.

Between Aug. 13-19, coalition military forces conducted 15 strikes, consisting of 25 engagements, in Iraq and Syria.

Strikes in Syria

There were no reported strikes conducted in Syria yesterday.

On Aug. 18 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted a strike, destroying two ISIS supply routes.

On Aug. 17 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted a strike, destroying an ISIS logistics hub.

On Aug. 16 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted a strike, destroying an ISIS vehicle.

On Aug. 15 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted two strikes, destroying two ISIS supply routes.

On Aug. 14 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted three strikes, destroying two ISIS command-and-control centers, an ISIS command-and-control support facility and an ISIS supply route.

On Aug. 13 near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted three strikes consisting of three engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS vehicle and two ISIS lines of communication.

Strikes in Iraq

There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq yesterday.

On Aug. 18 near Rutbah, coalition military forces conducted two strikes consisting of seven engagements against ISIS targets.

-- Near Rutbah, a strike destroyed an ISIS vehicle.

-- Near Samarra, a strike destroyed two ISIS-held buildings and an ISIS supply cache.

On Aug. 17 near the Hamrin Mountains, coalition military forces conducted a strike consisting of six engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS-held building and an ISIS vehicle.

There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq Aug. 14-16.

On Aug. 13 near the Atshana Mountains, coalition military forces conducted a strike consisting of one engagement against ISIS targets.

Additional Strikes

On Aug. 12, coalition military forces conducted three strikes consisting of four engagements in Iraq and Syria that were not reported in the previous release:

-- In Syria near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted a strike, destroying two ISIS lines of communication.
