Editor's Note about reporting on the US-Led war in Iraq

The US-led coalition which fights the Islamic State in northern Iraq consists of US-led NATO forces, Iraqi Shi'i government forces, Iranian-backed Shi'i militias, and Kurdish Peshmerga forces. The coalition's continuous attacks have resulted in the killing of tens of thousands of Iraqi Sunni Muslim Arabs and the eviction of hundreds of thousands as a result of the destruction of their cities and villages.

Millions of Iraqi Sunni Muslim Arabs have left their cities and villages as the fighting intensified towards an all-attack by the US-led coalition on Mosul. The end outcome has been evicting (ethnic cleansing of) Sunni Muslim Arabs from the upper Euphrates region of northwestern Iraq and northeastern Syria.

The larger context for understanding the Iraq-Syrian wars is that these wars contribute to the implementation of the Zionist-Israeli plan of destroying the Arab Middle Eastern states in preparation for the establishment of the greater Israeli empire, from the Nile of Egypt to the Euphrates of Iraq.  

The following news stories from the official US and Iraqi websites do not mention any civilian casualties, as all reported deaths are claimed to be for ISIS members, who are killed in air strikes and bombardment on cities! Needless to say that independent sources are hard to find or report from. Thus, the following is a documentation of the death and destruction, as reported basically in such official website. Other independent reporting will be presented whenever available. One of these independent websites, which provides some reporting on Iraq is yaqein, whose stories are also posted here but in Arabic, with English headlnes.

15 Islamic State militants, volunteer fighters killed in Shirqat clash

 Fifteen Islamic State members and volunteer civilian fighters were killed Tuesday during a security operation in the eastern side of Shirqat, Salahuddin province.

A security source told Baghdad Today that volunteer tribal fighters were on a chase of Islamic State members in Tal al-Hawa region. While the volunteers managed to kill eight militants, a remaining number of them pretended death, and blew themselves using explosive belts when approached by the fighters, leaving seven dead.

Shirqat civilians had formed combat groups to assist security forces combing the town for IS vestiges.

Iraq’s military command announced the recapture of Shirqat late September.

A wide-scale campaign backed by a U.S.-led coalition launched in 2016 to retake major enclaves held by IS since 2014. The campaign liberated the group’s former capital, Mosul, the town of Tal Afar, Kirkuk’s town of Hawija and Anbar’s Annah. Only Anbar’s Rawa and Qaim currently remain under actual IS control.

Iraqi warplanes kill 17 Islamic State militants near Syrian borders

Seventeen Islamic State militants were killed when Iraqi fighter jets bombarded their locations near the Iraqi-Syrian borders on Tuesday, a senior army officer was quoted saying.

Brig. Gen. Saleh Ali told Jordan’s Petra news agency that the air raids targeted the Okashat-Qaim road, killing 17 militants and destroying several vehicles and ammunition depots as Iraqi forces head towards the recapture of Qaim.

Only Qaim and neighboring Rawa, both on the Syrian borders, remain under Islamic State control at present after Iraqi government and paramilitary forces managed to retake the group’s main bastions in Iraq.

Since Islamic State militants took over large areas of Iraq and Syria to establish a self-styled “caliphate” in 2014, Iraqi government forces, backed paramilitary troops and U.S.-led coalition, launched a wide-scale campaign to retake those regions.

So far, the offensives managed to retake Mosul, the group’s former capital, the town of Tal Afar, Kirkuk’s Hawija and Anbar’s Annah.

Reports are telling of running preparations for invading Rawa and Qaim. If recaptured, that will mark a practical end to Islamic State’s control in Iraq.

Local authorities and human rights agencies believe Islamic State members are holding tens of thousands of civilians in western Anbar as future human shields, having killed hundreds for attempting to escape.

Dozens of Islamic State members killed in western Anbar raid

Dozens of Islamic State militants were killed Monday when amy warplanes targeted militants’ gatherings in western Anbar, security sources were quoted saying.

Iraqi Media News Agency quoted the sources saying that army jets bombarded Wadi al-Qathef region when tens of group members were rallying preparing for an attack on army forces. They said the raid left dozens of militants dead, including foreign nationals.

Since Islamic State militants took over large areas of Iraq and Syria to estalbish a self-styled “caliphate” in 2014, Iraqi government forces, backed paramilitary troops and U.S.-led coalition, launched a wide-scale campaign to retake those regions.

So far, the offensives managed to retake Mosul, the group’s former capital, the town of Tal Afar, Kirkuk’s Hawija and Anbar’s Annah.

The only regions that currently remain under Islamic State’s territorial influence are Anbar’s towns of Rawa and Qaim. Reports are telling of running preparations for invading the two regions. If recaptured, that will mark a practical end to Islamic State’s control in Iraq.

Strikes in Syria

In Syria, coalition military forces conducted four strikes consisting of five engagements against ISIS targets:

-- Near Abu Kamal, three strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit, destroyed a vehicle and a weapons storage facility.

-- Near Shaddai, a strike destroyed an ISIS vehicle-borne bomb and a fighting position.

Strikes in Iraq

In Iraq, coalition military forces conducted seven strikes against ISIS targets consisting of 10 engagements against ISIS targets:

-- Near Qaim, two strikes destroyed an ISIS improvised explosive device and an ISIS-held building.

-- Near Haditha, three strikes destroyed an ISIS IED and a supply road.

-- Near Rawah, a strike destroyed an ISIS headquarters.

-- Near Sultan Abdallah, a strike destroyed an ISIS supply road.

Oct 8 Strikes

Additionally, three strikes consisting of four engagements were conducted in Syria on Oct. 8 for which the information was not previously available:

Oct. 7 Strikes in Syria

In Syria on Oct. 7, coalition military forces conducted 53 strikes consisting of 56 engagements against ISIS targets:

-- Near Abu Kamal, a strike destroyed an ISIS tactical unit and a vehicle.

-- Near Dayr Az Zawr, a strike destroyed an ISIS command-and-control network.

-- Near Raqqa, 51 strikes engaged four ISIS tactical units; destroyed 50 fighting positions, a tactical vehicle, six vehicles, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device and four command-and-control networks.

Yesterday's Strikes in Syria

Coalition military forces conducted 25 strikes consisting of 30 engagements against ISIS targets in Syria yesterday:
