Editor's Note about reporting on the US-Led war in Iraq

The US-led coalition which fights the Islamic State in northern Iraq consists of US-led NATO forces, Iraqi Shi'i government forces, Iranian-backed Shi'i militias, and Kurdish Peshmerga forces. The coalition's continuous attacks have resulted in the killing of tens of thousands of Iraqi Sunni Muslim Arabs and the eviction of hundreds of thousands as a result of the destruction of their cities and villages.

Millions of Iraqi Sunni Muslim Arabs have left their cities and villages as the fighting intensified towards an all-attack by the US-led coalition on Mosul. The end outcome has been evicting (ethnic cleansing of) Sunni Muslim Arabs from the upper Euphrates region of northwestern Iraq and northeastern Syria.

The larger context for understanding the Iraq-Syrian wars is that these wars contribute to the implementation of the Zionist-Israeli plan of destroying the Arab Middle Eastern states in preparation for the establishment of the greater Israeli empire, from the Nile of Egypt to the Euphrates of Iraq.  

The following news stories from the official US and Iraqi websites do not mention any civilian casualties, as all reported deaths are claimed to be for ISIS members, who are killed in air strikes and bombardment on cities! Needless to say that independent sources are hard to find or report from. Thus, the following is a documentation of the death and destruction, as reported basically in such official website. Other independent reporting will be presented whenever available. One of these independent websites, which provides some reporting on Iraq is yaqein, whose stories are also posted here but in Arabic, with English headlnes.

Over 40 IS members killed, others wounded in airstrikes in western Anbar

 Over 40 Islamic State militants were killed, while others, including Arabs and foreigners, were wounded in airstrikes that targeted a meeting for the group’s members in west of Anbar, Interior Ministry said.

A statement by the ministry’s intelligence indicated coordination with the Joint Operations Command targeting five IS pivotal locations in west of Anbar. Iraqi fighter jets, “targeted a meeting for IS leaders in al-Jazeera region, Qaim town, leaving 20 militants killed and others injured.”

“An airstrike destroyed a rest house for suicide attackers in Karabla region, Qaim, killing 11 militants and injuring others,” it said. “A booby-trapping workshop of the so-called Baghdad State was destroyed in the region, which was followed by several blasts that occurred due to presence of several booby-trapped vehicles inside. 12 militants were killed, while others, most of whom were Arab and foreigners, were injured.”

In related news, a security source from Anbar said “U.S.-led Coalition jets killed Marawan Mohamed Ali Ismail, a senior IS leader in Qaim and profoundly injured his siblings Saud and Ismail.”

“Marawan is the brother of an IS militant Abdel Mohsen, who is wanted by the U.S. and Iraqi government,” the source told Alghad Press.

Anbar’s western towns of Qaim and Rawa have been held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic “Caliphate”. Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them in 2015 and 2016.

Iraqi army announced the total recapture of the town of Annah, hours after recapturing neighboring Rayhana area, earlier this month. Troops also liberated Akashat region, between Rutba town, on borders with Jordan, and Qaim, on borders with Syria.

More than 100 IS militants killed in 38 airstrikes by army in Hawija

More than 100 Islamic State militants were killed in airstrikes that targeted the group’s haven in southwest of Kirkuk on the second day of phase 2 of operations launched there, commander announced.

“Iraqi army jets carried out 38 airstrikes leaving 121 militants killed, vehicles and two tunnels destroyed in Hawija,” Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah, commander of Hawija Operations, said.

Moreover, Yarallah said Federal Police, the Rapid Response forces as well as al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) managed to liberate 26 villages in Hawija.

On Friday, Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat, chief of Federal Police, said troops regained control on 70 square kilometers in west of Hawija, liberated 23 villages and regions and killed 144 militants. Another 96 militants were killed in airstrikes in Hawija, Yarallah said.

Early on Friday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and the Joint Operations Command announced beginning of the second phase of Hawija offensive.

According to Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell, 557 IS militants were killed, while more than 100 villages and regions were liberated during the first phase, which launched earlier this month and was concluded on Sunday.

Hawija and other neighboring regions, west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria.

Russian airstrikes force thousands of civilians to flee their areas in Idlib

Hama (Syria News) --

Local media sources informed that thousands of civilians, from eastern Hama, have fled their area due to the latest Russian air strikes, Qasioun News reported on Wednesday.

The sources revealed that thousands of civilians from the villages located in eastern Hama have fled toward Sinjar area, in the eastern countryside of Idlib, after the latest Russian air strikes on their areas.

Moreover, nearly 25,000 residents left the villages of Qasr Ali, Qasr Shawy, Arafa, Rabda, Hazm, Muwaileh, and Qasr Ben Wardan due to the intense Russian shelling on their villages, the sources added.

The sources also pointed out that people who fled to Qalaat Al-Madiq Town, in western Hama, were forced to flee again toward Zawya Mount Village in Idlib, after the air strikes that were carried out on the city.

It is noteworthy that the villages, located in eastern Hama, are witnessing intensive air strikes by Russian and Syrian warplanes, leaving several casualties amid the civilians.

Military Strikes Continue Against ISIS in Syria, Iraq

From a Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve News Release

SOUTHWEST ASIA, Sept. 30, 2017 —

U.S. and coalition military forces continued to attack the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria yesterday, conducting 34 strikes consisting of 43 engagements, Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials reported today.

Officials reported details of yesterday's strikes, noting that assessments of results are based on initial reports.

Strikes in Syria

In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 28 strikes consisting of 32 engagements against ISIS targets:

-- Near Abu Kamal, three strikes engaged four ISIS units and destroyed three vehicles.

-- Near Raqqa, 25 strikes engaged seven ISIS tactical units and destroyed 21 fighting positions, 17 vehicles and a heavy machine gun.

Strikes in Iraq

In Iraq, coalition military forces conducted six strikes consisting of 11 engagements against ISIS targets:

-- Near Qaim, a strike destroyed an ISIS staging area and an ISIS headquarters.

-- Near Beiji, a strike suppressed an ISIS tactical unit and a mortar team.

-- Near Huwijah, two strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed two tunnels; and damaged four ISIS supply routes.

-- Near Tuz, two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed a tactical vehicle, a heavy machine gun and a fighting position.

Additionally, 19 strikes consisting of 42 engagements were conducted in Syria and Iraq on Sept. 10-28 that closed within the last 24 hours:

-- On Sept. 10, near Raqqa, Syria, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit.

-- On Sept. 14, near Raqqa, Syria, a strike destroyed an ISIS fighting position.

-- On Sept. 18, near Raqqa, Syria, a strike destroyed an ISIS fighting position.

-- On Sept. 24, near Raqqa, Syria, a strike destroyed an ISIS fighting position.

-- On Sept. 27, near Raqqa, Syria, four strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed a vehicle, a logistics node and a headquarters.

-- On Sept. 28, near Asad, Iraq, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed six vehicles.

-- On Sept. 28, near Huwijah, Iraq, two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed 29 vehicles, seven fighting positions, two tunnel entrances, two weapons caches, a command-and-control node, a staging area, a medium machine gun, a headquarters and an ISIS-held building.

-- On Sept. 28, near Raqqa, Syria, eight strikes destroyed two ISIS fighting positions; and suppressed six fighting positions.

الدولي قتل في اخر غاراته التي شنها على قضاء القائم غرب الانبار  87 مدنيا ودمر اكثر من 20 عجلة مدنية ، خلال قصف وقع قرب معمل الجص في داخل القضاء ، كما شن طيران التحالف غارات كثيفة على الصحراء القريبة من قضاء القائم ، بحسب مصادر صحفية . عمليات القصف العشوائية المستمرة على غرب الانبار ، اجبرت مئات العائلات من راوه والقائم للنزوح الى قضاء الرطبة او مدينة الرمادي ، بحثا عن ملاذ امن لهم . انتهاكات الميليشيات بحق نازحي الانبار ومواطنيها . تزامنا مع تصريحات العرسان باخراج نازحي الانبار من مخيماتهم قسرا واغلاقها اقدمت مجموعة تابعة لميليشيا الحشد الشعبي ، على اقتحام احد مخيمات النازحين جنوب مدينة الفلوجة بمحافظة الانبار ، والذي يضم بداخله نازحين من ناحية جرف الصخر شمال بابل ، واختطفت عدد من النازحين داخله ، في اسلوب تهديد وضغط لاخراج النازحين من مخيماتهم. مصادر صحفية مطلعة فضلت عدم الكشف عن هويتها ، اكدت بتصريح لمراسل وكالة يقين للانباء ان مجموعة من ميليشيا الحشد الشعبي قامت بمداهمة احد مخيمات النازحين لاهالي جرف الصخر شمال بابل ، في قضاء عامرية الفلوجة جنوب مدينة الفلوجة بمحافظة الانبار . الميليشيات عقب اقتحام المخيم اختطفت خمسة من النازحين بطريقة اثارت الرعب والخوف لدى العوائل النازحة مستخدمة اسلوب الضرب والسب والشتم واقتياد المختطفين الى جهة مجهولة ، مبينة ان المختطفين من آل مزهر الهزاع من اهالي الفاضلية في جرف الصخر . القوات المشتركة مع ميليشيا الحشد الشعبي منعت ايضا اهالي منطقة الطاش في محافظة الانبار من العودة الى منازلهم بعد الهجوم الذي استهدف مناطق المدخل الغربي لقضاء الرمادي. الأسر النازحة من منطقة الـ7 كيلو عادت اليها ، بعد الهجوم لعناصر مسلحي (تنظيم الدولة) على مناطق المدخل الغربي لقضاء الرمادي ، بتهمة الارهاب . كما اعتقلت القوات المشتركة في عمليات دهم وتفتيش 30 مدنيا في مناطق النساف والحصي التابعة لمدينة الفلوجة ، حيث كشفت مصادر صحفية ان الاعتقالات تمت في المنطقتين بذرائع واهية وتهم عشوائية لا حقيقة لها . تهجير نازحي الانبار من المخيمات الى مناطق حزام بغداد. مجلس محافظة الانبار لم يكتف بقرار غلق المخيمات الخاصة بنازحي الانبار ، بل اعلن عزمه على لسان نائب محافظ الأنبار للشؤون الإدارية ايضا “مصطفى العرسان ” وباتفاق مع محافظ الأنبار “محمد الحلبوسي” و قادة في الجيش على تشريد النازحين لمناطق حزام بغداد في قضاء الكرمة شرق مدينة الرمادي بالمحافظة. العرسان بين في تصريحه الجديد ان الاتفاق على إعادة النازحين لمناطق حزام بغداد في قضاء الكرمة شرق الرمادي ، سيكون في مناطق (القرغول، وذراع دجلة، وإبراهيم بن علي ) المستعادة قبل اكثر من عام ونصف ولا يزال نازحو تلك المناطق يسكنون المخيمات في داخل الأنبار وخارجها . مناطق حزام بغداد تحت حصار القوات المشتركة وميليشياتها ….الطارمية نموذجا. مناطق حزام بغداد ومنها الطارمية شمالا وجرف الصخر المحمودية واليوسفية جنوبا ، تعاني من انتهاكات متواصلة للقوات المشتركة مع ميليشياتها ، فمن ينظر الى واقع تلك المناطق يلاحظ الحصار الخانق عليها والاعتقالات العشوائية بحق ابنائها والتهجير القسري لسكانها بدوافع طائفية . هيئة علماء المسلمين في العراق ، اكدت في تصريح صحفي ان قضاء الطارمية شمال بغداد يعاني منذ ايام طويلة من حصار خانق من قبل القوات المشتركة وميليشياتها ، والامر هماهو الا انتهاكات ممنهجة، وأحكام جاهزة بتهم الإرهاب؛ تجري تحت مسمى القانون، وهي في الحقيقة مخالفة صريحة لملفات حقوق الإنسان؛ تهدف إلى تغيير التركيبة السكانية في مناطق حزام بغداد؛ عبر السعي لإفراغ هذه المناطق من سكانها الأصليين، بافتعال المشاكل، وفرض إجراءات عقابية تصل إلى حالات التغيب في السجون، والتصفية الجسدية، والتهجير القسري خدمة لمشاريع طائفية كانت السبب في وصول العراق إلى هذا الوضع البائس. الهيئة بينت في تصريحها ايضا ان الطارمية المحاصر يعاني الحصار المطبق المفروض من القوّات الحكومية ، حيث منع بموجبه الدخول إلى المدينة والخروج منها وضواحيها، وأجبر أصحاب المحال التجارية والخدمية على إغلاقها، وحظر دخول البضائع والمواد الغذائية إلى مناطق القضاء كافة. الحصار رافقه حملات دهم وتفتيش طالت عددًا من النواحي والقرى المحيطة بالطارمية الذي أخضعته الأجهزة الحكومية والميليشيات المصاحبة لقرار حظر على تجوال الأشخاص والمركبات، ولم تعرف حتى اللحظة أعداد الذين جرى اعتقالهم في هذه الحملات التي يؤكد شهود عيان من أهالي الطارمية أنها تتم بدوافع طائفية. الهيئة كشفت في تصريحها ان قضاء الطارمية شمال بغداد وأغلب مناطق حزام بغداد الشمالي قد تعرضت على مدى الأشهر القليلة الماضية لحملة ممنهجة، أقدمت قوات الجيش الحكومي بموجبها على تجريف عشرات البساتين وتدمير الأراضي الزراعية، وهدم البيوت، وتخريب وسائل الخدمات مثل محطات الكهرباء والماء، وسط تصاعد ظاهرة الاغتيالات التي طالت العديد من أبناء تلك المناطق، الذين وجدوا أنفسهم داخل أسوار سجن كبير تنتهك فيه حقوقهم. الحصار الخانق على الطارمية يهدد نحو نصف مليون مواطن من أهالي قضاء الطارمية شمالي العاصمة بغداد ، بكارثة إنسانية ، بسبب استمرار قطع الطرق المؤدية إليه ، ومنع دخول المواد الغذائية ومتطلبات الحياة لمواطنيه ، وذلك بهدف الضغط على أهالي هذه المناطق وتهجيرهم من مناطقهم لتغيير ديمغرافيتها. ناحية جرف الصخر بحزام بغداد الجنوبي مسرحا لجرائم الميليشيات ناحية جرف الصخر بحزام بغداد الجنوبي وشمال محافظة بابل ومنذ وقت طويل هي مسرح لجرائم الميليشيات الطائفية الموالية لإيران ، بتواطؤ حكومي واضح بهدف تغيير ديمغرافيتها خدمة للمشروع الإيراني في البلاد ، وفي هذا السياق ، تواصل تلك الميليشيات جرائمها في جرف الصخر ، حيث قامت بهدم منازل المدنيين وتجريف بساتينهم في منطقة الفارسية التابعة للناحية. ميليشيا بدر الطائفية وبحسب مصادر صحفية اكدت لمراسل وكالة يقين للانباء ، قامت بهدم منازل المواطنين ، وتجرف بساتينهم ؛ في منطقة الفارسية بناحية جرف الصخر شمالي محافظة بابل . الاسئلة التي تفرض نفسها في ظل ماتم ذكره  هي، كيف يمكن ان يشرد نازحو الانبار من مخيماتهم وتغلق في ظل الظروف الراهنة من عمليات عسكرية غرب الانبار ونزوح مستمر لاهالي مدن راوه والقائم ؟ ، وكيف يمكن نقل نازحي الانبار من مخيماتهم الى مناطق حزام بغداد التي تعاني هي الاخرى من حصار خانق وعمليات تهجيرات بدوافع طائفية ؟ وان مايجري في الانبار عموما وبحق نازحي المحافظة ومواطنيها خصوصا من يقف وراءه ؟. تهجير جديد لنازحي الانبار من مخيماتهم ...الى اين هذه المرة ؟سبتمبر 26, 2017في "أزمة النازحين في العراق"
