Positive Development for Opening Rafah Border Crossing Between Egypt and Gaza

Hamas Movement said that its relation with Egypt is undergoing a qualitative and positive move following the latest understandings with Egyptian authorities in Cairo. “The Egyptian national security is part of the Palestinian national security”, Hamas highlighted.

The Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said, in a statement on Saturday, that his Movement and official authorities in Gaza are pursuing a series of security measures that contribute in maintaining security in both sides.

Qasem hoped that the relation with Egypt will get improved in the soon future to the extent that allows opening the Rafah crossing and facilitating the entry of goods into the besieged Gaza Strip as well as the travel of individuals.

Palestinian technical committee is going to visit Cairo this week in order to finish the arrangements of maintaining security at the border and crossings

Director General of the Internal Security Forces Major General Tawfiq Abu Naim revealed that a Palestinian technical committee is going to visit Cairo this week in order to finish the arrangements of maintaining security at the border and crossings as well as to supply the besieged Gaza Strip with fuel.

Abu Naim said on Saturday, in an exclusive statement to the PIC, that the committee will follow up what has been agreed upon regarding the use of security equipment such as barbed wires, surveillance cameras and fuel.

This visit comes as a result of the understandings reached between Hamas Movement and Egyptian authorities two weeks ago.

Gaza power station runs a third turbine to compensate for the electricity supply shortage

The Palestinian energy and natural resources authority in the Gaza Strip on Saturday decided to operate the third turbine at the power station to compensate for the electricity supply shortage after Egypt’s cross-border lines ran into trouble again.

According to the electricity distribution company in Gaza, there will be no change in the daily power supply program after running the power plant’s third turbine.

Therefore, the population will continue to receive power for four hours following every 12 hours of blackout, the distribution company affirmed.

كشفت مصادر فلسطينية موثوق منها لـ صحيفة "الحياة" اللندنية حقيقة التطورات الإيجابية الجديدة التي طرأت على علاقة حركة «حماس» بكل من مصر والقيادي المفصول من حركة «فتح» محمد دحلان، وتفاصيل الاجتماعات المنفصلة بين الأطراف الثلاثة.
وقالت إن رئيس «حماس» في قطاع عزة يحيى السنوار وعدداً من مسؤولي «حماس» التقوا، خلال زيارة القاهرة اعتباراً من الرابع من الشهر الماضي التي استمرت ثمانية أيام، قادة المخابرات العامة المصرية، وفي مقدمهم الوزير اللواء خالد فوزي، وقادة «تيار» دحلان، وعلى رأسهم دحلان نفسه.
وشددت على أن التطورات الجديدة في علاقة «حماس» مع مصر ودحلان قد «تجلب الخير» لمليوني فلسطيني يعيشون في قطاع غزة، من بينها فتح معبر رفح الحدودي قبل عيد الأضحى المبارك بأسبوع تقريباً، بعدما تكون السلطات المصرية أعادت تأهيل المعبر في شكل أفضل من سابقه، على أن يعمل 12 ساعة يومياً، ثم على مدار الساعة لاحقاً.

غادر وفد مكون من قطاعات اللجنة الإدارية لحماس في قطاع غزة، صباح اليوم الأحد، إلى القاهرة عبر معبر رفح البري الذي فتح بشكل خاص لتحرك الوفد باتجاه مصر في زيارة هي الثانية في أقل من شهر لوفد من الحركة للقاء مسؤولين جهاز المخابرات المصرية.
ويضم الوفد مسؤولين أمنيين ولجنة فنية من اللجنة الإدارية يمثلون قطاعات “المالية- الاقتصاد الصحة” لبحث تطبيق التفاهمات التي تم التوصل إليها بين الوفد السابق والمسؤولين المصريين.

وقال أسامة سعد أمين عام اللجنة الإدارية في تصريح لوكالة الرأي الحكومية بغزة، أن من ضمن القضايا التي سيناقشها الوفد مع الجانب المصري هي الجوانب الأمنية على الحدود وقضية معبر رفح وملف الكهرباء والوقود.
وكان توفيق أبو نعيم مدير قطاع الأمن والداخلية في اللجنة الإدارية قال أمس أن لجنة فنية من قطاع غزة ستتوجه إلى مصر الأسبوع الجاري لبحث ما تم الاتفاق عليه مع الجانب المصري خلال زيارة وفد حركة حماس للقاهرة قبل عدة أسابيع.
