Safa news agency’s Facebook page removed

September 29, 2016, GAZA, (PIC)--

Facebook administration removed Wednesday evening Safa news agency’s page as part of its latest agreement with Israeli government.

Safa’s Facebook page which has more than 1 million followers is mainly concerned with Palestinian daily news.

The news agency strongly condemned the Facebook administration’s measure, calling for reconsidering it.

It also called on its followers to subscribe on its social media accounts.

The agency was earlier banned from publishing photos or videos on its Facebook page for a whole month.

The Facebook administration closed over the past few days several pro-Palestinian pages and accounts, some of which were banned for the tenth time. 

A number of online activists accused the administration of online social networking service Facebook of deliberately suspending their accounts to silence the pro-Palestinian pages. 

The Facebook’s restrictions came shortly after two Israeli government ministers met top Facebook officials to discuss ways of collaboration between the two parties. 

The Israeli ministers and Facebook officials have agreed to work together to determine “how to tackle incitement on the social media network.”

Qudsuna demands Google to rectify its definition of Jerusalem

Qudsuna for Human Rights has sent a strongly worded letter to Google's management calling for correcting the wrong definition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital in its maps application.

In the letter, director of Qudsuna Khaled Zabarqa demanded Google to swiftly correct this description in its application in accordance with the historical, legal and political information about Jerusalem city.

In 10 pages, the letter highlighted and clarified the most important facts and resolutions on Jerusalem as well as its legal status.

Israeli army to flood Gaza border with water

September 29, 2016, GAZA, (PIC)--

The Israeli occupation army intends to flood Gaza border areas with water in order to destroy underground tunnels allegedly built by the Palestinian resistance.

An Israeli military official told Maariv newspaper, on condition of anonymity, that the army plans to flood underground cross-border tunnels as Egypt has done on its border with Gaza.

60 miles of land extending along the border of Gaza will be flooded with water, according to the military official.

He added that the Israeli army would also finish, within a few months, the building of its underground concrete wall to block attacks from Gaza.

IOF launches raid and arrest campaign in W.B.

September 29, 2016, WEST BANK, (PIC)--

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) launched overnight a large-scale raid and arrest campaign throughout the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Local sources affirmed that a number of Palestinians were arrested during the campaign under the pretext of being “wanted” for Israeli Intelligence.

Israeli forces claimed weapons were found during the raid campaign in Beit Jala town south of Bethlehem.

Three arrests were reported in Ramallah, while three Palestinians were detained in al-Khalil, Tulkarem, and occupied Jerusalem.

Israelis raze Palestinian olive orchards to expand illegal settlement

Illegal Israeli settler gangs residing in the illegal Leshem settlement, in western Salfit, uprooted Palestinian olive trees, paving the way for settlement expansion.

Palestinian farmers said Israeli bulldozers leveled their olive orchards in eastern Deir Balout town, to the west of Salfit, in an attempt to expand illegal settlement at the expense of their own lands.

Researcher Khaled Maali said 130 illegal settlement units have been built in the Israeli Leshem outpost as part of a scheme to construct 700 units in the area.

A home to 424 Israeli extremist settlers, the aforementioned outpost was furtively established in 1982 and announced in 2013 over an area of nearly 300 dunums, all seized from Palestinian native inhabitants.

A Palestinian young man sustained wounds at noon time on Wednesday after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed al-Tour neighborhood, in eastern Occupied Jerusalem, and cracked down on Palestinian schoolchildren.

A PIC news correspondent said clashes burst out shortly after the IOF broke into the al-Tour area and chased down Palestinian pupils. 

The IOF showered a Palestinian school with randomly-shot spates of acoustic bombs and targeted the Palestinian schoolchildren and anti-occupation protesters with heavy barrages of bullet fire.

A youngster was injured in the head in the attack and was rushed to the al-Makasid Hospital for urgent treatment.

Similar attacks launched a few hours earlier by the IOF on Palestinian schoolchildren in Jerusalem’s eastern towns of Abu Dis and Silwan culminated in five suffocation cases among the Palestinians as a result of teargas inhalation.

Euro-Med calls for action against Israeli campaign to evict international workers

Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor revealed in a new report issued Wednesday that Israel has adopted a systematic campaign to prevent activists and NGO workers from working in the Palestinian territories.

The international secretary of Euro-Med, Pam Bailey, is one of the victims of the surging number of deportations, and the NGO called on the council to file a formal complaint against Israel with international bodies.

“We are not individuals who want to live and work in Israel; rather, we seek the right to do so in the Palestinian territories,” notes Bailey. “The Israeli government likes to claim it is not a prison warden. But what else is it if it controls who Palestinians choose to welcome as visitors and consultants?”

An analysis of UN data conducted by the Euro-Med Monitor shows that a recent surge in reports of deportations of individuals attempting to transit through Israel to work with Palestinians is apparently the result of an official strategy implemented by the Israeli government beginning in January of this year.

Reports submitted to the Access Coordination Unit (ACU) of the United Nations Office of the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator show that in 2015, only 1 percent of the 384 “incidents” encountered by UN and international NGO employees and consultants resulted in deportations. Rather, the vast majority of the problems (76 percent) were delays. 

The same pattern was observed in the previous three years. However, through September 20 of this year, “mere” delays (which can last hours) dropped to 58 percent of the 232 reported incidents; instead, there was a dramatic increase in forced cancellation of trips (18 percent) and deportations (9-10 percent).

By far the most incidents were reported at Erez, the crossing from Israel into Gaza, indicating that travelers to the blockaded Strip are particularly targeted. About 4 percent of UN employees were denied permits.

Israel sentences ex-Palestinian Minister to 12 months in jail

An Israeli occupation court on Wednesday morning sentenced the former Palestinian Minister of Detainees, Wasfi Qubha, to 12 months in jail.

Qubha’s family said the Israeli Salem military court in western Jenin province issued a 12-month prison-term and another 18-month suspended sentence, along with a fine of 2,000 shekels, against their relative. 

Qubha’s wife said the occupation court charged her husband with involvement in popular campaigns to support Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.

She added that her husband was arrested in May from his own family home in Jenin and is currently locked up in the Israeli Meggido jail, in 1948 Occupied Palestine.

Qubha has spent a total of over 12 years in Israeli lock-ups. He has been diagnosed with chronic diseases, including hypertension and diabetes.

Human rights groups warned of a projected exacerbation to rock Qubha’s health as a result of deliberate medical negligence in Israeli jails.

PPS: “Israeli Soldiers Kidnap 13 Palestinians In The West Bank”

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has reported that Israeli soldiers have kidnapped overnight and on Thursday morning, thirteen Palestinians in different parts of the occupied West Bank.

The Hebron office of the PPS, in the southern part of the West Bank, said the soldiers invaded various communities in the district, searched many homes and kidnapped four Palestinians, two of them identified as Mohammad Qassem Shallash and Abdul-Nasser Abu Mariyya.

In addition, the soldiers and uncover officers invaded the town of Silwad, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, searched many homes and cars, and kidnapped a father and his son, who are also former political prisoners. They have been identified as Amin Saleh Hamed, 60, and his son Abdul-Hadi, 30.

Also in Ramallah, the soldiers invaded the Nobani Farms town, and kidnapped Ahmad Mohammad Zibin and Majed Hammad.

In Tulkarem, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, the soldiers invaded homes in Nour Shams refugee camp, east of the city, and kidnapped Ali Yousef Fouda, 34, and Riyad Mohammad Jawabra, 20.

In Nablus, also in the northern part of the West Bank, the soldiers kidnapped one Palestinian, identified as Osama Taiseer Sallam, 43.

In Jerusalem, the soldiers kidnapped Yousef Waleed Abu Roomy from his home in the al-‘Ezariyya town, and Mohammad Fawzi Mteir, from his home in Qalandia refugee camp.

Also at dawn, dozens of Israeli military vehicles and jeeps invaded Hebron city and several nearby areas and towns, searched many homes and installed roadblocks.

On Thursday morning, the soldiers installed several surveillance cameras on the western entrance of Teqoua’ town, east of the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

Also Thursday morning, the soldiers opened fire on several Palestinian farmers, working on their own lands, east of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.

Furthermore, the army invaded the Hamsa al-Fouqa area, near Tubas in central West Bank, and removed 19 Bedouin families from their dwelling, so that the army can conduct life fire training in their community.

On Wednesday and late at night Tuesday, the soldiers kidnapped 43 Palestinians, including children a legislator, in different parts of the occupied West Bank, including 15 in Jerusalem.

Israeli Army Displaces Bedouin Families To Conduct Military Training

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, Thursday, the Hamsa al-Fouqa area, near Tubas in central West Bank, and removed 19 Bedouin families from their dwelling, so that the army can conduct life fire training in their community.

The soldiers surrounded Abu Hamsa al-Fouqa area before invading it, and handed the military orders for the families before removing them.

The planned military drills, which will use live fire and artillery shells, will be held today, and again on Friday morning for five hours, starting at six in the morning.

The army frequently conducts live fire drills after displacing many Palestinian communities in the Jordan Valley and central West Bank.

Many Palestinians, including children have been injured, some killed, by unexploded objects dropped by the military during training.

On September 21st, the Israeli army ordered 15 Palestinian families to evacuate their homes in the northern Jordan Valley, paving the way for military maneuvers in the area.

Army Invades Hebron, Searches Homes And Installs Roadblocks

Dozens of Israeli military vehicles and jeeps invaded, on Thursday, Hebron city and several nearby areas and towns, searched many homes and installed roadblocks.

Media sources in Hebron said the soldiers invaded Wad al-Harya area, in Hebron city, searched several homes and interrogated many young Palestinian men.

Owners of some of the invaded homes have been identified as Yousef Abu Daoud, Hamza Abu Daoud, Roshdi Qneibi, Ali Olama’, in addition to al-Qasrawi and Edrees families.

The soldiers also invaded Deir Samet town, west of Hebron, and searched a home belonging to Mousa Ali Hroub.

In Beit Awwa town, west of Hebron, the soldiers invaded one home, belonging to Shehda Masalma.

In addition, the soldiers installed roadblocks leading to the towns of Ethna, Bani Neim and Beit Ummar, before stopping and searching dozens of cars while inspecting the ID cards of the passengers, and interrogated many of them.

Israeli Soldiers Open Fire On Palestinian Farmers In Central Gaza

Israeli soldiers opened fire, on Thursday morning, on several Palestinian farmers, working on their own lands, east of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.

The farmers said the soldiers, stationed across the border fence, fired many live rounds, forcing them to leave their lands in fear of additional escalation and army fire.

The soldiers attacked the farmers while stationed on their military towers, across the border fence surrounding the Kissufim army base, southeast of Deir al-Balah.

The attack is part of frequent violations targeting Gaza farmers, working and fishers, in different parts of the besieged and impoverished coastal region.

Israeli Forces Demolish Palestinian School for 4th Time

Israeli forces, on Tuesday morning, demolished a new classroom made out of Zinc, in the Abu Nuwwar school, Khan Al-Ahmar, occupied East Jerusalem. This is the fourth time the school is demolished by Israel, who refuses to give it permission to continue, according to the PNN.

The school is located in area C of the West Bank, between the illegal settlements of Ma’ale Adumim and Qedar: an area that has been marked by the Israeli authorities as Area E1, site of the planned expansion of Ma’ale Adumim in order to create territorial contiguity between the settlement and Jerusalem.

According to rights group B’Tselem, the Abu a-Nuwar community consists of more than 100 families, with a total population of about 600, about half of them minors.

On the 6th of January, 2016, authorities demolished five residential tents of families in the community. On 10 January, 2016, authorities returned to Abu a-Nuwar and confiscated the replacement tents donated to the community by humanitarian aid agencies.

Residents of the community have been legally battling the plan to expel them for a number of years. In a petition filed in 2015, the HCJ issued an interim injunction prohibiting the demolition of some structures in the community.

However, the caravans, like the tents the authorities destroyed since January, were not included in these.
