Hundreds of Syrians Killed, Thousands Injured, More Destruction from Air Strikes and Bombardment by US-Led Coalition, Russian, Iranian, and Regime Forces

Editor's Note:

The US-led coalition which fights the Islamic State in northeastern Syria consists of US-led NATO forces, Syrian Alewife government forces, Iranian-backed Shi'i militias, and Kurdish peshmerga forces. The coalition's continuous attacks have resulted in the killing of thousands of Iraqi Sunni Muslim Arabs and the eviction of thousands as a result of the destruction of their cities and villages.

Millions of Iraqi Sunni Muslim Arabs have already left their cities and villages as the fighting intensifies towards an all-attack by the US-led coalition on Raqqa and Mosul. The end outcome is going to be evicting Sunni Muslim Arabs from the upper Euphrates region of northwestern Iraq and northeastern Syria. 

The following news stories from the official US and Syrian websites do not (or rarely) mention any civilian casualties, despite the facts that air strikes and bombardment target cities, including residential neighborhoods!

Warplanes bomb al-Tabaqa city west of Al-Raqqah

Al-Raqqah Province:

Warplanes carried out at least four raids on areas in the city of al-Tabaqa west of Al-Raqqah province -which is controlled by the “Islamic state”- and on other areas on the Highway near Ma’adan town, also warplanes dropped leaflets on the city of al-Tabaqa demanded the fighters to dropp their arms and surrender themselves.

Casualties and injuries in airstrikes on areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo

Aleppo Province:

Warplanes bombed areas in the town of Hayan in the northern countryside of Aleppo, causing material damage, while helicopters dropped barrel bombs on places in Huraytan town and Asia area in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which led to a fire in the area, also 3 children killed and others were injured when warplanes bombed Huraytan area in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

warplanes also carried out two raids on areas in the town Kafrjoum and another raid on another area in the western countryside of Aleppo which damaged property, also warplanes believed to be for the international coalition bombed areas in Manbij city which is under the control of the “Islamic state”, and confirmed reports about casualties in the ranks of the organization.

an old woman was killed when explosive bullets landed on Rowwad al-Siyaha area in al-Hamdaniya neighborhood, which is controlled by the regime forces in Aleppo, while the regime forces shelled areas in al-Castelo road at the outskirts of Aleppo city, and information about casualties, while several explosive bullets landed on regime forces’ controlled areas in the neighborhood of al-Midan.

Rif Dimashq Province:

Helicopters dropped barrel bombs on areas in the city of Darayya in the Western Ghouta, in conjunction with bombing by the regime forces on areas in the city using rocket shells and 4 missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, helicopters also dropped several barrel bombs on areas in the town of al-DierKhbyeh in the west of Rif Dimashq, no information about casualties, while 2 warplanes carried out at least eight simultaneous raids on areas in the farms around Khan al-Shih camp in the Western Ghouta, which injured at least one person.

Clashes in the eastern and southeastern countryside of Homs and casualties in Rastan

Violent clashes are taking place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against the “Islamic State” in the vicinity of Qasr al-Heer and al-Qaryatayn desert in the southeastern countryside of Homs, and information about casualties among both parties, while three children were killed when warplanes bombed areas in the city of Rastan north of Homs province.

Rebels advance in southern Aleppo and kill 24 soldiers

Aleppo province:

24 soldiers in regime forces and allied militiamen were killed during the past 24 hours by clashes against rebels and Jabhat al-Nusra and bombardment in the southern countryside around Khelsa, Berna and Zetan villages, Aerial bombardment targeted Hreitan, al-Mallah, Bab al-Nerab, al-Shaar, Tariq al-bab, Dahra Awad, and the al-Moasalat al-Qadima in Aleppo city leading to the death and injuries in civilians, Explosive barrels targeted Dahra Awad. A man was killed by aerial bombardment on al-Castello area.

Continued clashes in Reef Dimashq and aerial bombardment targets Der-Ezzor

Reef Dimashq province:

Clashes took place after midnight between regime forces and Islamic battalions around Jesrin farmlands and al-Homahadia, reports of losses in both sides, Areas of Ein Terma were exposed to bombardment by regime forces what killed 1 civilian.

Der-Ezzor province: Warplanes targeted al-Salhia area with several airstrikes, no reports of losses. The coalition warplanes targeted al_Tank oil field in the eastern countryside, no reports of losses. 

Khelsa battles lead to massive human losses in Hezbollah

Clashes continue between IS and SDF around Menbej city amid aerial bombardment covering SDF in the area. Reliable sources reported to SOHR that SDF found 78 corpses for militants in IS who were killed by aerial bombardment by the coalition warplanes and during clashes between the two sides around the city, which rose the number of deaths in IS to 352.

Also rose to 37 the number of militants in SDF who were killed during clashes against IS around Menbek. The number of civilians who were killed during the military operations around the city also rose to 78, including 25 (A man with his wife, sister, brother, and 2 of his children ) were killed during an attempt to escape the city, in addition to 5 children and 2 women who were shot and killed by IS militants in Menbej city.

Two men killed by landmine planted by IS in Om al-Safa village, a woman with 2 of her children and their wives in addition to 2 children were shot and killed by IS militants in the city, while no less than 49 civilians including 16 children and 10 women in addition to 10 prisoners were killed by the coalition airstrikes targeted Menbej city and the village of Ojaqnah.

Aleppo province:

Rose to 86 the number of regime forces and allied militiamen who were killed during lashes against rebels and Jabhat al-Nusra around Khetha village and other villages in the southern countryside, the dead included 25 Hezbollah, rebels heavy bombardment led to massive human losses in the southern countryside.

Sources confirmed to SOHR that regime forces are losing soldiers and areas because they are not supported by the Russian airstrikes, and regime forces is exposed to lose control on al-Hader town in case the Russian airstrikes kept off air, Dozens of rebels and Jabhat al-Nusra militants were also killed during the clashes, This is considered as the largest loss for Hezbollah since al-Quser battles in 2013.

Temporary truce announced after 55 bloody days that killed and injured more than 3500 civilian

The inside of Aleppo city is witnessing since the morning of today 16th of June 2016 a state of calmness, after 55 consecutive days of targeting the neighborhoods of Aleppo city, since the 22nd of April 2016, which caused a great destruction in the property of citizens, public facilities and hospitals, injuring at least 2900 people.

While it rose to 267 civilian citizens -including 124 persons under the age of eighteen years, and 90 citizen women over the age of eighteen years- the number of people who were killed and the Syrian Observatory for human rights managed to document since the 22nd of April 2016 until the dawn of today the 16th of June 2016.

They were killed in shelling by the regime forces and airstrikes targeting areas in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo city which are controlled by the factions, and also killed in shelling by the rebel and Islamic factions on regime forces’ controlled areas in the western neighborhoods of Aleppo city, and also by the bullets of the snipers and the shelling on areas in Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in Aleppo.
