January 12, 2016, WEST BANK, (PIC)--

Three Palestinians were killed on Tuesday by Israeli gunfire in separate incidents in al-Khalil and Bethlehem in the southern West Bank. 

In Bethlehem, the Palestinian ministry of health declared that the 21-year-old Palestinian Surour Ahmad Abu Surour, from Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem, was murdered by direct shooting in the chest by Israeli occupation soldiers.

The PIC reporter said that the young man Abu Surour was killed during the clashes that erupted in the area between Israeli troops and Palestinian youths.

Israeli media sources also reported that the Israeli occupation forces stationed at the junction of Beit Einoun village to the east of al-Khalil shot a Palestinian young man after an alleged stabbing attempt. Another youth got killed as well in clashes that broke out with Israeli occupation forces one hour later of executing that man at the junction. 

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that that Israeli soldiers barred ambulances from accessing Beit Einoun junction and providing help to the injured young man. Israeli sources said he died of his wounds. 

The PIC reporter disclosed that the Palestinian martyr was identified as Adnan Ayed al-Halayqah and that he is only 17 years old from al-Shuyoukh village to the northeast of al-Khalil. 

The PIC reporter also revealed that the other Palestinian young man  who was executed by Israeli soldiers an hour later was identified as Hamza Jamal Shalalda, from Saeer town which has been under tight siege for five days. 

This has brought the number of Palestinians who have been executed by Israeli forces since the Jerusalem Intifada to 156 martyrs. In addition, over 15,000 Palestinians got injured in the uprising according to a statistics report issued by the national assembly of the families of Palestine’s martyrs.

The health condition of the Palestinian journalist captive Mohammad al-Qiq has entered on Tuesday a new stage of real danger after an ongoing 49-day-long hunger strike. He went on the strike in protest against being held under administrative detention with no charge or trial. 

The family of captive al-Qiq told the PIC reporter that the lawyers of their son, who has been on hunger strike since November 25, has been suffering too critical condition. They revealed that he has been cuffed in four of his limbs as the Israeli authorities decided to give him intravenous supplemental fluids. 

The family affirmed that detainee al-Qiq complains of intermittent coma and that symptoms of weakness and fatigue are so obvious on him. However, he insists to continue his open hunger strike until his release, the family underlined. 

The family demanded a medical committee to be sent to jail to get acquainted with the exact health condition of their son and demanded a competent legal team to work on his release under no condition.

The family also appealed to the Palestinian Authority along with the government in Ramallah to issue convicting data against Israel and called on the Palestinian student movement to support their hunger striker son. 

Mohamma al-Qiq, 33, is a journalist working as correspondent to al-Majd news channel. He is held captive in the hospital of Afula Israeli jail.

Settlers, intelligence agents storm the Aqsa Mosque

January 12, 2016, OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

Groups of Jewish settlers along with members of Israeli intelligence apparatus on Tuesday morning stormed the plazas of the Aqsa Mosque from the Magharebah gate under the protection of Israeli police and Special Forces. 

Some of the settlers, who roamed the courtyards of the Muslim's holy site, attempted to perform Talmudic rituals at the Mosque. However, Muslim sit-inners along with worshipers confronted settlers by chanting “Allah the Greatest”. 

In the same context, the Jerusalemite women whose names are listed in the ban of entry list were barred from entering the Mosque by Israeli police. They got gathered in a sit-in at the Aqsa gates and recited verses of the Holy Quran.

The Jewish settlers deliberately storm the Aqsa Mosque daily at seven o'clock in the morning so that they can take advantage of the small numbers of Muslim sit-inners at that early time. 

Israeli gunboats open machinegun fire at fishermen in Gaza sea

January 12, 2016, GAZA, (PIC)--

 Israeli navy forces on Tuesday opened machinegun fire at Palestinian fishermen in Gaza sea. No casualties have been reported.

Local sources told Quds Press that a number of Israeli navy gunboats fired in the morning hours at the Palestinian fishing boats which were sailing in the northern Gaza sea.   

The heavy shooting forced the Gazan fishermen to return to shore and end fishing despite sailing within the allowed zone of six nautical miles. 

The attack is another episode in the series of Israeli daily violations of the Cairo-brokered truce accord signed between Israel and Palestinian resistance on August 26, 2014 in the wake of the Israeli offensive on the besieged coastal enclave, which killed over 2,300 Palestinians, mostly civilians.

Erekat: ICC to open investigation against Israeli leaders

January 12, 2016, ALGERIA, (PIC)--

Head of the Negotiation Affairs Department of Palestine Liberation organization (PLO), Saeb Erekat, said that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is expected in 2016 to open an investigation into Israeli violations against Palestinian people.

In his remarks to the Algerian radio, Erekat affirmed that six files were submitted to the ICC that already started to conduct a preliminary investigation into the tabled documents.

The submitted files mainly deal with Palestinian prisoners’ issue, settlement expansion, Gaza aggression, Israeli extrajudicial executions and Dawabsheh arson attack, he explained.

Following the United Nations General Assembly resolution 67/19 on 29 November 2012, Palestine has become a non-member observer state, Erekat pointed out.

The resolution, he continued, recognized Palestine as an occupied state with its boundaries as they were prior to 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. It also allows Palestine to apply for membership in 523 international organizations and treaties.

 This means that Israeli demolition and ethnic cleaning policy, settlement construction, and daily arrests are war crimes according to the international laws and conventions, according to Erekat’s remarks.

Erekat pointed out that he heads the Supreme National Committee responsible for follow-up with Palestine's Ascension to the International Criminal Court (ICC) which constitutes of 45 members including Hamas Movement.

“After opening a preliminary investigation into the submitted files, we are now expecting a decision for conducting an investigation against Israeli leaders over 2016.”

On the other hand, Erekat said that the region is witnessing a new Sykes-Picot map.

He stated, in conclusion, that no security would be achieved in the Middle East without the establishment of the Palestinian state.

The Palestinian official Saeb Erekat has arrived Sunday in Algeria for a four-day working visit at the invitation of Algeria. 

Erekat has been welcomed upon his arrival at Houari-Boumediene International Airport by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra.

IOA fences thousands of dunums in Nablus

January 12, 2016, NABLUS, (PIC)--

Israeli Occupation Authority (IOA) has been embarking for a few days on fencing thousands of dunums to the east of Nablus city in the northern West Bank as a prelude to confiscate the land.  

The PIC reporter quoted local sources as saying that Palestinians in that area removed the fence, but Israeli soldiers put it back. 

According to the sources, the IOA, for that reason, decided to establish six military watchtowers along the road of Yitzhar settlement from Jeet junction to the junction of Howara in southern Nablus in order to tighten its control over that road which is used by settlers.  

Besides, the IOA distributed on Tuesday notices for halting some construction works and demolition of eight homes in al-Marajem hamlet near Douma town to the southeast of Nablus city. The demolition decision of the homes was made for being located in the Israeli-controlled Area C. 

Palestinians are worried about the Israeli intention to take over all of the Palestinian lands located within the territories classified as Area C. The Israeli act came in response to Israeli right-wing leaders who are keen on preventing the establishment of the State of Palestine, the sources pointed out. 

Israel continues to bulldoze and fence Palestinian land in Yabad

January 12, 2016, JENIN, (PIC)--

The Israeli occupation army has been embarking for about three days on carrying out bulldozing and fencing works on annexed Palestinian land in Yabad town, south of Jenin city.

Eyewitnesses told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on Tuesday that Israeli construction vehicles and workmen continued for the third consecutive day to level and fence the plots of land located between Yabad town and Dotan settlement, especially in the area near Dotan checkpoint, which separates Yabad from Tulkarem city.

They added that the Israeli army also started to enlarge the Dotan checkpoint by placing more concrete blocks on the road and expanding the fence around it.
