Houthis are receiving arms shipments from Iran, said Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Assiri, consultant in the office of the defense minister.

In a telephonic interview with Al-Arabiya channel on Saturday, Al-Assiri said the Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh have, in their possession, nearly 300 Scud ballistic missiles. “They seized these weapons from the Yemeni Army,” he said.

Al-Assiri’s statement came in the aftermath of Saudi Arabia’s successful interception of a Scud missile that was launched toward Khamis Mushayt by the Houthis on Friday.

Saudi troops used a Patriot missile battery to intercept the missile.

“Thanks to Allah, it was intercepted by the Royal Saudi Defense Forces by two Patriot missiles,” said a statement from the coalition command center. The coalition forces destroyed the rocket launcher whose location was identified south of Saada.

“The coalition forces involved in the anti-Houthi operation do not exclude the possibility of more such attempts,” said Al-Assiri.
“We are facing a brutal enemy which does not hesitate in attacking and killing civilians,” he said. “Our forces are fully ready to neutralize these missiles, and this is what happened late last night (Friday),” he said.

إعلان Al-Assiri explained that since the start of the military operations, the enemy militias were divided into two parts, the first was the Houthi fighters whose mission was to engage with the Saudi ground troops at the Saudi borders with Yemen, and the second was the forces supporting deposed President Saleh inside Yemen.

“What happened on Friday on the border was that the two parts joined forces and launched a desperate attack on our borders,” he said.
He asserted that the military operations against Saleh and the Houthi militias will continue.

4 soldiers slain as ground offensive by rebels repulsed

The coalition forces, led by Saudi Arabia, repulsed a ground offensive by forces loyal to ousted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the Houthi militias on Friday.

The attack that lasted from dawn till noon prompted Saudi forces to fire artillery and launch Apache attack helicopters.

According to an SPA statement, scores of Yemeni terrorists were killed.

Four Saudi soldiers were martyred. They were identified as Capt. Nasser bin Khalid Al-Atawi, Lt. Abdullah bin Yahiya Al-Faifi Corp. Hasan bin Ahmed Al-Nashiri and Pvt. Tayeb Ali Hassan Manqari.

“The armed forces repelled the offensive that was aimed at penetrating the border, in an attempt to revive their flagging morale,” said the SPA report.
“Scores of infiltrators were killed in a fierce battle that lasted from dawn to noon. Our forces confronted the shelling of the enemy with bravery and destroyed its vehicles and equipment involved in the aggression.”

Sources said more than 30 members of the Houthi militia were killed in Aden, Taiz and Baida, and that the tribal committees in Marib regained control over a strategic location to the west of the city which is surrounded by Houthis from four sides in a bid to control oil and energy resources and secure the road to Hadramuth.

The coalition air forces targeted Houthi positions and their camps in Sanaa, Dhamar and Aden. 

Saudi Army Shot a Scud Missile Fired by Houthis

The Saudi Army shot down a Scud missile fired by Houthi militants at the city of Khamees Mushait on Saturday morning.

The Saudi-led coalition said the missile which was fired early morning was stopped by two Patriot missiles.

Houthi forces shot the missile from the province of Sa’ada which is considered a stronghold for Houthis. Saudi officials declared that they shot down the dock in Sa’ada which the missile was fired from. 

The 11-metre-long Scud missile which was fired by Houthis was targeting King Khaled Airbase, according to Houthi media sources.

The battle on the borders overnight were described as the biggest attack on Saudi lands, media sources stated that the forces battling on the Houthis' side belonged to the Republican Guards which are considered one of the strongest units in the army loyal to the Ex President, Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The Scud missile attack comes after 4 Saudi soldiers including an officer were killed on the attack on Jizan and Najran on Friday.

The Saudi-led coalition has been targeting military sites in several provinces in Yemen for more than two months, and military sources say that Houthi forces on the ground still have access to weapons.

 

44 Dead, 180 Injured in Latest Saudi Aerial Bombardments on Sana'a

The latest round of Saudi air raids on the Yemeni capital city of Sana'a left more than 44 people dead and 180 others injured.

In the 74th day of their aggression against Yemen, the Saudi warplanes heavily targeted the areas of al-Tahrir and Jabal al-Naqam in Sana'a during the early hours of Sunday and claimed the lives of at least 44 people.

Also, over 180 people sustained serious injuries in the kingdom's strikes.  

On Saturday, the Saudi fighter jets pounded a school, media center and a residential area in the Eastern province of Hajjah, leaving more than 40 people dead.

Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen in the last 74 days to bring its ally, fugitive president Mansour Hadi, back to power.

The airstrikes have so far claimed the lives of more than 4,367 civilians, mostly women and children.

According to a recent report by Freedom House Foundation, most of the victims of the deadly Al Saud campaign are civilians, including a large number of women and children.

 

Saudi Oil Firm Aramco Targeted by Yemen with 5 Missiles

The facilities of the Saudi giant oil firm, Aramco, came under attack by the Yemeni forces on Sunday.

The Yemeni army and tribal forces fired 5 missiles at Aramco's oil facilities in Dhahran in the early hours of Sunday, the Arabic-language Al-Mayadeen TV reported.

This is the second time in less than a month that Aramco's facilities are targeted by the Yemeni missiles.

On May 11, the Aramco's oil facilities also came under attack by the Yemeni forces.

Saudi oil companies have oil facilities both in Dhahran in the Easternmost parts of the country near Bahrain and in Dhahran Asir in the South.

In the last few weeks, the Yemeni tribal forces have launched many mortar rounds at Jizan border region in retaliation for the bombardment of their tribes by the Saudi warplanes.

Local people residing in nearby area said they have heard loud blasts at Aramco's oil installations and "smoke is spiraling up from the facilities".

Cross-border skirmishes between the Saudi troops and Yemeni tribes have flared up over the past weeks, as the monarchy's airstrikes continue and have so far claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people, particularly at border areas.

The Yemeni army and popular forces hit Saudi Arabia's Jizan border region with tens of missiles on Saturday.

The Yemeni forces fired at least 80 missiles against the Saudi army's positions in Jizan region.

There are still no reports on the extent of the Saudi casualties in the border areas.

The attack came after Saudi warplanes pounded the areas of Bani Sayah and Sahar in Sa'ada province and claimed the lives of more than 70 civilians.

Also on Saturday, the Yemeni army fired a Scud missile into Saudi Arabia, forcing the monarchy's officials to cancel all Jizan and Abha flights.

According to media reports, the missile was fired early Saturday morning at the Saudi regime's largest air force base located in the city of Khamees al-Mushait in the kingdom's Southwest.

Saudi Arabia claimed that it had intercepted the Scud by two Patriot missiles. This is while the airport terminals of Jizan and Abha were evacuated and flights cancelled following the attack.

Also on Saturday, the Yemeni sources confirmed that the missiles fired by the popular forces against the Saudi targets inflicted substantial losses on an arms depot and four military patrol vehicles, killing several Saudi forces.

The missile attacks which were carried out in Towailaq district in the Saudi border region of Jizan was revealed by a military source to Yemen's SABA news agency during an interview.

"A large number of Saudi military aggression forces were killed in the attacks," the source, who asked to remain unnamed, said.

Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen in the last 74 days to bring its ally, fugitive president Mansour Hadi, back to power.

Saudi-led air strikes kill 44 in attack on Yemeni army compound: agency

SANAA, YEMEN --

Saudi-led air strikes killed at least 44 people during an air raid on the main headquarters of the Yemeni army in central Sanaa on Sunday, the Houthi-run state news agency Saba said.

The agency said that more than 100 people, including civilians, were also wounded in the attack which also destroyed private houses in Tahrir district in central Sanaa.

Residents had earlier said that four explosions shook the compound, where soldiers allied with the Iranian-backed Houthi group that dominates Yemen had gathered since Saturday evening to get their pay checks.

"More than 44 citizens were martyred and 100 others including women and children, according to preliminary figures," the agency said.

The agency quoted a source at the Health Ministry as saying that rescue teams where working to find people believed to be still under the rubble of houses destroyed by the raids.

The escalation of the violence came despite progress toward convening United Nations-backed peace talks this month in Geneva. The exiled Yemeni government in Riyadh and the Houthis have agreed to attend the talks which start on June 14.

United Nations special envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed was in Oman for talks with the Omani minister of state for foreign affairs aimed at preparing for the Geneva meeting, Omani state news agency ONA reported on Saturday. Oman had been mediating efforts to convene the Geneva talks.

Saudi-led forces have been pounding the Houthi group since March 26 in a campaign aimed at restoring President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.

Residents said Saudi-led aircraft also targeted other military camps east and west of the capital but there was no immediate word on casualties.

On Saturday, the Houthis and their army allies fired a Scud missile into Saudi Arabia which the kingdom said it shot down.

It was the first reported use of a ballistic missile in the conflict. The Saudi military said it had targeted the city of Khamees Mushait in the kingdom's southwest and was intercepted by two Patriot missiles.

Arab air strikes and shelling after the attack killed 38 Yemenis in provinces near Saudi Arabia, according to Saba reports which could not be immediately confirmed.

استشهد 38 مواطنا وأصيب العشرات، اليوم، اثر استمرار طيران العدوان السعودي في استهداف منشآت مدنية من بينها مؤسسات تعليمية وطبية، في عدد من محافظات الجمهورية.

وقال مصدر أمني لوكالة الانباء اليمنية (سبأ)، إن العدوان السعودي شن غارة جوية على مخيم النازحين بمديرية خيران محافظة حجة، ما أدى إلى استشهاد ثمانية وإصابة أكثر من 50 آخرين، مشيرا إلى أن المدفعية السعودية استهدفت قرية دغيج في المحافظة ما أدى إلى استشهاد خمسة مواطنين وجرح عدد آخر.

وأضاف "كما طال القصف الصاروخي للعدوان السعودي، اليوم، مدرسة عمر بن عبدالعزيز وسكن الأطباء والمركز الصحي ومنازل عدد من المواطنين بمديرية بكيل المير بمحافظة حجة، ما أدى إلى استشهاد 20 مواطنا وجرح العشرات".

ولفت المصدر إلى أن أربعة مواطنين استشهدوا وجرح آخرين إثر استهداف طيران العدوان السعودي لسيارة نقل متوسط تحمل مواشي وأغنام بمنطقة واسط بحرف سفيان وقاطرة نقل ثقيل تحمل مواد غذائية للمواطنين والنازحين والمتضررين من العدوان السعودي، مشيرا إلى أن طيران العدو شن غارات أخرى على قفلة عذر نتج عنها إصابة سبعة مواطنين.

وتابع المصدر "كما استشهد مواطن واصيب خمسة اخرين إثر معاودة العدوان السعودي، اليوم، استهداف منطقة آل بالحسين بمديرية خمر محافظة عمران".

وفي محافظة صعدة، قال المصدر إن طيران العدوان السعودي شن 10 غارات على منطقة بني سعد وجبل مران، وست غارات على مدينة صعدة، وثمان غارات أخرى على منطقة الشعف بمديرية حيدان بالمحافظة.

وأشار المصدر إلى أن الجرائم النكراء التي يرتكبها العدوان السعودي وبشكل يومي، بحق أبناء الشعب اليمني تضاف إلى سلسلة الجرائم التي استهدف قتل المواطنين وتدمير كافة المنشآت العامة والخاصة، مؤكدا أن جرائم العدو لن تسقط بالتقادم وسيقدم مرتكبه إلى المحاكم الدولية.

ودعا المصدر المنظمات الحقوقية والانسانية إلى النهوض بدورها وتحمل مسؤوليتها إزاء ما يرتكبه العدو السعودي من جرائم ضد ابناء الشعب اليمني والعمل على رفع الحصار الجائر المفروض عليه برا وبحرا وجوا.
