1104 Palestinians Killed, 6470 Injured, Mostly Children, Women, Elderly, by Israeli Air-Land Attacks on Gaza Strip, July 28, 2014

Palestine TV reported that the Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the death toll since the beginning of the current Israeli war of aggression on Gaza Strip has reached 1104 Palestinians, and that more than 6,470 were injured by Israeli terrorist air-land attacks on Gaza, as of July 28, 2014, 8:00 pm ET. 

These figures were not final as more Israeli air-land attacks were still going on during the night.

The invading Israeli occupation forces have been targeting the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza City and other parts of Gaza Strip, in an attempt to force Palestinian resistance fighters to stop fighting and accept Israeli conditions. 

This round of Israeli war crimes, massacres, and atrocities in Gaza started as a cover up and distraction from the failure of peace negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.  

This has been a very well-known Israeli tactic since 1948. In order to make people of the world forget their horrendous previous atrocities, they commit new ones, and so on.  

Publishing these Israeli atrocities and war crimes serve several functions. 

First, it's education for readers in countries were the media is owned or controlled by pro-Israel Zionists who do not publish them. So, making this basic information available is a service to readers, researchers, and journalists.  

Second, it serves as evidence for the future trials of Israeli war criminals, in the International Criminal Court.  

Third, it helps establish a record about the Zionist savagery, not only for the collective memory of the Palestinian people but for humanity as a whole, which needs to put an end to this destructive ideology, as was the case with fascism and Nazism.

UN: Israeli Military Drops More Leaflets, Gaza Evacuation in Progress

According to the official website of the United Nations, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has learned, with concern, that leaflets are reportedly being dropped by the Israeli military over the northern Gaza Strip, this evening. The leaflets serve to warn tens of thousands of residents to leave their homes and evacuate to Gaza City.

The UN's official statement said that, if true, this would have a "further devastating humanitarian impact on the beleaguered civilians of those areas of the Gaza strip, who have already undergone immense suffering in recent days".

Furthermore, UN agencies present in the Gaza Strip lack the ground resources on the ground to either cope with or provide assistance to what is now an "enormous extra influx of desperate people".

Secretary-General Ki-moon strongly urges all sides to avoid any further escalation at this time, noting that "all sides must meet all obligations under international humanitarian law, both towards civilians ahead of impending attacks, as well as maintaining proportionality in any kind of military response".

He reiterated his condemnation of rocket fire and the building of cross-border tunnels between Israel and Gaza by Palestinian resistance, further underlining the critical importance of ending hostilities.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted that military operations on Gaza (or what he refers to as "Hamas") are to be expanded and intensified, in order to disarm the resistance.

Israeli army confirms Thursday's shelling of UN refuge

Palestinian Muslims in Gaza say they had hoped to have a quiet holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which begins Monday and goes until Friday. But, the Israeli military began pounding Gaza with bombs as soon as the ‘temporary ceasefire’ was scheduled to end – at noon on Monday. Two of the targets were a playground and a hospital.

The strike on a park -- suspected to be a drone strike -- hit a playground beside al-Shati refugee camp, near the beach in Gaza City, killing 10 children as they played with their families. According to Ma'an News Agency, the children were wearing holiday clothes they had been given to celebrate the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

An NBC journalist who witnessed the bombing tweeted that it was an Israeli drone which was responsible.

Eyewitnesses say that 40 people survived injuries in the strike, which some are now calling the "Eid Massacre."

Ayman al-Sahbani, director of reception at al-Shifa Hospital, said that 10 children's bodies had arrived at the hospital as a result of the two strikes. It is still unclear to medical staff how many had died as a result of the attack on the hospital.

Al-Shifa Hospital is the main hospital in the Gaza Strip, and thousands of Palestinians have taken refuge there, as some 130,000 have now fled their homes in an attempt to escape Israel's continued bombardament of the region. Israeli authorities have declared more than 43 percent of the Strip "off-limits" to civilians and have destroyed more than 2,000 homes in the past 3 weeks.

Several rockets were fired on Monday, into Israel, and the Israeli army is now claiming that the deaths were a result of "failed rocket attacks" launched by the Islamic Jihad.

Palestinian resistance forces had previously announced a 24-hour ceasefire, to begin on Sunday at 2 pm. Israel, however, refused to accept the ceasefire, with officials saying that they would limit attacks to "retaliation" against Palestinian attacks.

Ma'an further reports that Israeli shelling killed two Palestinians in Jabaliya earlier, while another Palestinian died of previously inflicted wounds. Seven bodies were also recovered in Khuzaa, in the eastern Gaza Strip, as medical teams dug through the rubble which now fills the neighborhood.

Furthermore, the Israeli army, on Sunday, confirmed firing a mortar round into a Gaza UN shelter, this past Thursday, by which 15 people died, but has so far denied killing anyone at the site.

"We reject the claims that were made by various officials immediately following the incident, that people were killed in the school premises as a result of (Israeli army) operational activity," said spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, who claims that militants "in the vicinity" of the school fired mortar rounds and anti-tank rockets at Israeli forces, upon which the army supposedly responded with mortar fire, upon which "a stray round" landed in the compound.

"A single errant mortar (round) landed in the courtyard of the school," he said. "The courtyard was completely empty" at the time of the incident, he claimed.

However, that same day, an eyewitness was quoted by local radio as saying that, immediately before the shelling, a man introducing himself as a Red Cross official was asking people to gather in the yard because they would be evacuated to another shelter.

An UNRWA official saw people gathering asserted that there had been no coordination with UNRWA, and told them to go back to their rooms. During the argument which ensued, Israeli artillery shells began bombarding the school.

UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness tweeted, following the attack: "Precise co-ordinates of the UNRWA shelter in Beit Hanoun had been formally given to the Israeli army."

The majority of the displaced people sheltering at the school were elderly people, women, and children. Three UN teachers were killed.

"According to the information UNRWA has gathered so far about the fatal incident at the UNRWA school in Beit Hanoun on Thursday, there were hundreds of people at the installation when it was hit. We had staff at the school when the incident took place reporting in, as the shelling, which caused multiple fatalities and casualties, occurred. In addition we have spoken to numerous eye witnesses. According to our reports, after the first shell, there were several others in the close vicinity of the school within a matter of minutes.

We reiterate our condemnation and dismay at the incident and the loss of life. We call for a full investigation. It is important in a case like this where a clearly marked UN school in which hundreds of people took refuge is hit in this way, that there should be full transparency and accountability. We look forward to a report that is fair and objective in establishing the facts."

According to Ma'an, Monday's attacks have now brought the total Palestinian death toll to 1,055, with more than 6,200 injured.

The Israeli army says that at least 43 Israeli soldiers have been killed, in addition to three civilians.

Including A Child, Two Killed By Israeli Missiles In Gaza

Palestinian Medical Sources have reported that a Palestinian man and child were killed, and several Palestinians were injured, after the army bombarded homes Jabalia. Soldiers also fired missiles into lands and property in different parts of the Gaza Strip, in direct violation of the “ceasefire”.

The sources said a child, identified as Samih Jebriel Jneid, 4 years of age, and a young man identified as Mohammad Abu Louz, 22, have been killed in separate Israeli military bombardment of Palestinian homes, east of Jabalia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The killing of the two Palestinians is not the first Israeli violation of the “truce”, as the army killed ten Palestinians in different parts of the besieged Gaza Strip, while four more Palestinians died of earlier injuries.

Also on Monday, at least two Palestinians were injured in a number of Israeli air strikes targeting different areas in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli missiles have also been fired into houses in the Salam neighborhood, east of Jabalia.

Israeli F-16 war jets also fired missiles into an area in Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, west of Gaza City, causing property damage.

In addition, the army fired missiles into farmlands, and open areas, in the Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza.

Media sources in Gaza said the army fired dozens of missiles, on Monday afternoon, into various areas of the Gaza Strip, mainly in the Shuja’eyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, in addition to Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas said its fighters exchanged fire with Israeli soldiers invading an area, east of Jabalia. Israel said one soldier was wounded.

The fighters also retaliated by firing shells into the Hof Ashkelon regional council of settlements.

The Ministry of Health said medics and rescue teams are still awaiting to be allowed into Khuza’a town, east of Khan Younis in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, surrounded by Israeli soldiers and tanks for more than eight days.

Medics and rescue teams have been unable to conduct a thorough search for wounded Palestinians, and the remains of Palestinians killed by Israeli missiles, and buried under the rubble of bombarded homes.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said 1036 Palestinians, including 236 children, 93 women and 47 elderly, have been killed, and more than 6230 have been injured, by Israeli fire and shells since Israel initiated its aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza on July 8.

The Palestinians in Gaza started the first day of the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, by visiting graves of loved ones killed by Israel during the ongoing attacks on Gaza.

Despite being targeted by Israel, they also continued to search under the rubble of bombarded homes and buildings, trying to locate the remains of slain Palestinians, with the hope to find some who are still among the living.

Euro-Mid Observer: 6,000 mercenaries take part in killing Palestinian civilians

The Euro-Mid Observer for Human Rights has called on western countries to withdraw their citizens who serve as mercenaries in the Israeli occupation army.

Euro-Mid Observer revealed on Sunday that hundreds of Europeans, Americans, and Canadians, who have enrolled in the Israeli army, had taken part in killing Palestinian civilians especially in Gaza.

The human rights observer pointed to the Israeli programs and campaigns that work on recruiting Jews from foreign countries in the Israeli army.

Around 6,000 foreign mercenaries including 2,000 Americans are currently fighting within the Israeli occupation army, the report said.

The U.S. State Department announced last week that two Jewish American soldiers were killed during clashes in Gaza, identified as Max Steinberg, 24, and Nassim Sean Carmeli, 21, who were fighting within the Golani Brigade.

Euro-Mid Observer documented that a number of non-Israeli soldiers were also killed during the ongoing aggression on Gaza.

The report said that dozens of non-Israeli soldiers took part in the two previous Israeli aggressions on Gaza in 2008/2009 and 2012.

“In light of the horrific crimes committed by the Israeli army in Gaza, we call on western countries to withdraw their citizens and to prevent them being engaged in future crimes”, the Geneva-based Observer said in its statement.

Euro-Mid Observer expressed its fears that these non-Israeli soldiers might receive financial motivation to serve in the Israeli army, which make them mercenaries according to Article 47 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, 8 June 1977.

Eighteen Civilians Killed As Israel Continues To Strike Homes In Gaza

The Israeli army resumed its bombardments of different areas of the Gaza Strip, hitting more homes and civilian structures, killing at least eighteen more Palestinians, including an entire family, and wounding dozens of residents.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that seven members of the Abu Zeid family were killed, and many Palestinians were wounded, when an Israeli missile struck their home in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The slain family members have been identified as;

1. Ahmad Abdullah Hasan Abu Zeid, Rafah.
2. Widad Ahmad Salama Abu Zeid, Rafah.
3. Shamma Wael Abu Zeid, Rafah.
4. Mariam Marzouq Abu Zeid, Rafah.
5. Falasteen Mohammad Abu Zeid, Rafah.
6. Abdullah Nidal Abu Zeid (child), Rafah.
7. Bissan Eyad Abu Zeid, Rafah.

On Monday evening, the army fired missiles into homes in Gaza’s Central District, killing six Palestinians, and wounding several others, while one woman died of her wounds, at an Egyptian hospital. The slain Palestinians have been identified as;

8. Abdul-Samad Mahmoud Ahmad Ramadan, 16, Central District.
9. Ayman Adnan Mousa Shaker, 25, Central District.
10. Issa Kamel Abdul-Rahman Mousa, 61, Central District.

In Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, five Palestinians were killed, and more than twenty were injured, some seriously, when the army fired missiles into an area near the Islamic University. They have been identified as:

The Ministry of Health in Gaza is reporting more Palestinians killed and wounded, including at least three children and two women, in Israeli bombardment that also targeted a home in the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza.

Around 1100 Palestinians, including 251 children, 94 women and 50 elderly, have been killed, and more than 6470, including at least 1980 children.

Israeli missiles and shells in Gaza have injured 1175 women, and 259 elderly, since July 8.

Hundreds of wounded Palestinians suffered life-threatening injuries, the Ministry of Health said.

10 children killed in Israeli bombing of children's playground

Israel committed a new massacre in Gaza Strip on the first day of Eid after bombing a children’s playground and Shifa Hospital. Dozens of casualties were reported.

Israeli warplanes targeted on Monday evening a playground near al-Shati refugee camp, killing at least ten children while playing and celebrating Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The children's bodies have been torn to shreds, medics said.

Meanwhile, a new airstrike targeted the outpatient clinic of al-Shifa Hospital, critically injuring ten civilians.

Palestinian Health Ministry said that 10 children were killed and 50 people were injured during Eid's massacre.

Hamas: Israeli rejection of ceasefire during Eid serious escalation

Hamas Movement has said that Israeli authorities refused a humanitarian ceasefire deal during Eid al-Fitr holiday.

In a brief statement issued on Monday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri considered Israeli rejection of a ceasefire as a serious escalation and a flagrant violation of Muslims’ feelings and religious holidays.

For its part, the Palestinian Interior Ministry affirmed that no ceasefire agreement has been reached between Palestinian resistance factions and Israeli occupation.

Spokesman for the ministry confirmed on Monday morning that the “Israeli enemy” refused a ceasefire agreement on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Hamas, meanwhile, expressed pride in the great victories and achievements made by the Palestinian resistance mainly the Qassam Brigades during the ongoing aggression on Gaza along the past three weeks.

The Movement mourned Palestinian martyrs in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza, wishing speed recovery to all those injured during the aggression.

The statement called on the Palestinian people at home and in the diaspora to unite their efforts in respect to the martyrs’ blood and resistance fighters’ sacrifices.

The Movement also hailed the pro-Palestine media campaigns launched all over the world in solidarity with Gaza, calling for intensifying support for the Palestinian people’s steadfastness.

4-year-old child killed on Eid day

On the first day of Eid on Monday Israeli warplanes continued to target Palestinian civilian homes throughout Gaza Strip, killing a 4-year-old child in Jabalia.

Meanwhile, Palestinian medics managed to retrieve seven bodies from under the rubble in Khuzaa near Khan Younis.

Israeli warplanes have also targeted agricultural lands in central and southern areas of the Strip. No injuries were reported.

Israeli sources claimed that the airstrikes targeted two missile launching pads used by resistance fighters to fire rockets at Israeli targets.

Civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip have marked their Eid’s day with a great sorrow after Gaza death toll has hit 1035, all killed in the ongoing Israeli offensive.

Palestinian citizens Hussein Hassan Abu al-Naja, 65, was killed in Israeli artillery attack east of Khan Younis, to the South of Gaza, while Imad al-Bardawil, 44, died of wounds he sustained in an earlier airstrike 17 days ago.

Two members of the municipality personnel were killed in an Israeli strike Sunday evening while they were carrying out distribution missions east of Khan Younis. Hundreds of others were left severely wounded in the process.

Gaza death toll has been brought to 1035, including 236 children, 93 women, and 47 elderly civilians, all killed in no more than 22 days.

Some 6233 civilians have been left severely wounded, including 1994 children, 1169 ladies, and 257 elderly people.

A wave of Israeli sea, air, and on-the-ground military offensives has been launched by the Israeli occupation forces in the besieged Gaza Strip more than three weeks ago, leading to unspeakable human and material damages. 

70 per cent of Gaza's water installations are malfunctioning

Head of the Palestinian Water Authority Shaddad Attili confirmed that 70 per cent of the water installations in Gaza Strip are malfunctioning as a result of being targeted in the Israeli army attacks or due to power and fuel shortage.

This led to a decrease of 70-80 per cent in comparison to the original quantities, in addition to the deteriorating water, health, and environmental situation.

In a press statement, Attili warned of the serious risks faced by the people of Gaza Strip as one of the most populated places on earth due to the continued blockade and water pollution and the lack of power to run vital installations.

He pointed out that the water authority crews have not been able till now to evaluate the damage caused by the Israeli war on Gaza Strip due to the continued hostilities against the civilians and infrastructure .The preliminary estimates for the necessary repairs in the water sector reached nearly five million dollars.

He added that among nearly one million people out of 1.8 million citizens are deprived of drinking water as a result of the sewer lines damage and the accumulation of waste.

He reported that more than 110 thousand people who sought refuge in UNRWA schools, public schools, other families' homes and public squares are facing water shortage due to the frequent targeting of water lines or the inability of the water cisterns to meet the people's needs.

Attili warned of the imminent danger resulted of the flow of wastewater in many areas especially in north Gaza (Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia) after the targeting of sewer lines and sanitary pumps, in addition to power shortage and sewer flooding that may lead to the spread of diseases and epidemics.

He pointed out that five members of the technical teams were killed after being targeted while working to repair the damages, saying that they cannot reach some areas especially the civilian communities on the northern borders of Gaza (almost 600 thousand people).

Attili emphasized that war crimes were committed in Gaza Strip including the significant targeting of the Strip’s infrastructure, water supply and sanitation.

It resulted in the destruction of water utilities such as water wells, water pipes and networks and the mixing of sewage and potable water.

He explained that the preliminary assessment of the relief needs for water works and sewage reached more than five million dollars and approximately twenty million dollars to repair the sanitation infrastructure damage.

He called on water sector’s donor countries and international organizations to support the efforts of the “Water Authority”, international organizations and the Red Cross to meet water and sanitation humanitarian needs and to provide support for the provision of drinking water for the displaced people and for the entire population in the Gaza Strip in general.

He stressed the need to work immediately to provide safe corridors, to stop targeting technical crews and fuel and water tanks, and to enable Water Authority and municipal crews to restore the artesian wells and desalination plants that have been directly or indirectly targeted.
