Gaza death toll hits 231 as Israel steps up genocide against civilians

GAZA, (PIC)--

A horrific genocide shook up the Gaza Strip Wednesday evening and at dawn Thursday, as at least 16 civilians, including children, were mass-murdered in a new round of Israeli airstrikes targeting civilians' homes and institutions.

PIC correspondent said 5 civilians, including 4 elderlies, were killed early Thursday morning following a wave of Israeli air raids on Palestinian homes and agricultural lands in Khan Younis, Beit Lahia, Dair El-Balah and Rafah.

The Israeli F16 fighter jets reduced a number of homes to rubble, most notably the house of the Hamas political bureau member Khalil al-Hayya in al-Shajaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza. Dozens of civilians were left wounded in the process.

Other civilians' homes have been turned into ruins by Israeli rocket attacks, including six other family homes in Gaza city, in Jabaliya refugee camp, and in Dair El-Balah.

Israeli attacks culminated in a barrage of random rocket launches on a number of Palestinian relief, charity, and rehab institutions.

In an earlier incident Wednesday PIC reporter at the scene kept record of another Israel genocide that took away the lives of 6 civilians in Khan Younis, to the south of the Strip.

Brothers Akram and Kamel Abu Amer were killed while the other family members were injured following an Israeli strike on the Abasan community, east of Khan Younis.

Elderly Kawthar al-Astal, youngster Hussein al-Astal, along with Yasmine and her brother Muhammad arrived dead to Nasser hospital in Khan Younis.

Health ministry spokesperson, Ashraf Al-Qudra, said Houssem Shamlakh was killed while 5 family members of his were rushed to hospital in the wake of an Israeli rocket round on their farmland west of Gaza.

The offensive coincided with an earlier genocide that took away the lives of 4 children near the Gaza shore.

Three Palestinians Killed In Rafah

Palestinian medical sources have reported that the Israeli Air Force continued it attacks against various Palestinian neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, killing three more Palestinians, in Rafah, on Thursday morning.

The Ministry of Health has reported that the three Palestinians have been identified as:

1. Abdullah Salem Al-Akhras, 27, Rafah.
2. Bashir Mohammed Abdul-‘Al, 20, Rafah.
3. Mohammed Ziyad Ghanem, 25, Rafah.

Medical sources in Gaza said many Palestinians, including women and children, have been move to the Shifa Medical Center in Gaza City, after the army fired missiles into a number of homes, east and west of Gaza city.

The Ministry stated that 230 Palestinians have been killed, and 1,690 have been injured since the Israeli escalation on Gaza started, Tuesday, July 8. The majority of the victims are civilians, including infants, children, women and elderly.  

Four More Palestinians Killed In Ongoing Assault On Gaza

Palestinian medical sources in the Gaza Strip have reported that four more Palestinians were killed on Thursday, in the latest of an ongoing series of Israeli strikes and bombardment targeting different parts of the coastal region.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that an elderly man was killed, and one was severely wounded, when an Israeli drone fired a missile at worshipers leaving a mosque, following dawn prayers, in the neighborhood of Jneina, in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.

The Ministry said the slain Palestinian have been identified as;

1. Mohammed Abdul-Rahman Hassouna, 67, Rafah.

An elderly Palestinian woman was also killed, on Thursday at dawn, after the Israeli Air Force fired missiles into a number of homes in Khan Younis, also in the southern part of the Gaza Strip; several Palestinians were injured.

The slain woman has been identified as:

2. Zaynab Mohammed Sa’id Al-‘Abadallah, 71, Khan Younis.

In addition, one Palestinian was killed, and several others were wounded, some seriously, when the army fired missiles into a number of homes in Beit Lahiya in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The slain Palestinian has been identified as:

3. Ahmed Reehan, 23, Beit Lahiya.

Also, a young Palestinian man was killed in an airstrike targeting his home, in Deir Al-Balah, in central Gaza. He was been identified as;

4. Salem Saleh Hayyad, Dair El-Balah.

Three Palestinians were injured when the army bombarded a home, belonging to the Kahil family, west of Gaza City.

Three air strikes also targeted farmlands in Khan Younis, and the army fired a missile, for the third time, into the home of Hamas political leader, former Minister of Interior, Fat-hi Hammad, in Beit Lahiya.

A building under construction, belonging to the Young Muslim Women Association in Sabra neighborhood, in western Gaza City, was hit by a number of Israeli missiles causing excessive damage to the building, and several nearby homes.

A number of homes were also targeted in Jabalia, and a money-exchange shop was hit by a missile in Gaza City, in addition to another home, belonging to Radwan family, in Gaza City.

The ongoing bombardment and shelling of Gaza, which began in earnest, on July 8th, has led to the deaths of 227 Palestinians, while at least 1,685 Palestinians have been injured. Most of the casualties are children, women and elderly, including entire families.

Netanyahu fires Deputy Defense Minister over remarks

Following a week of Israeli airstrikes, hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents remain without running water. International aid agencies warned Tuesday that Israel's ongoing destruction of Gazan infrastructures threatens the entire coastal strip with a water crisis within days.

Israeli air strikes are exacerbating the already terrible situation of Gazans access to clean water and sewage treatment, exposing tens of thousands of people to the threat of serious diseases.

"Within days, the entire population of the Strip may be desperately short of water," noted Jacques de Maio, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Israel and the occupied territories.

In a published statement, de Maio added that "The question is not if but when an already beleaguered population will face an acute water crisis." He further highlighted that water is becoming contaminated and sewage is overflowing, bringing a serious risk of disease.

Recent attacks have knocked water and electrical systems out of action. Palestinian officials on Saturday claimed that Israelis had targeted water wells in different areas of Gaza City.

Gaza's sewage system is also a target, with Israeli warplanes hitting sewage treatment stations in Gaza City early Saturday morning. The areas most affected include the Shati refugee camp, Tal al-Hawa, Sheikh Ejleen and most western districts of the city, according to Saed al-Din Atbash, head of the Gaza Municipality water facilities.

To make matters worse, the intensive Israeli bombing is preventing technicians from carrying out essential repairs. Following the deaths of several municipal water technicians over the past few days, Gaza’s water service provider has suspended all field operations until the safety of staff can be guaranteed.

As a result, hundreds of thousands more people will soon find there is no water when they turn on the tap.

Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with over 4,500 people per sq. km. Over 90% of water from the Gaza aquifer is unsafe for human consumption without treatment.

In related news, AIC reports that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has fired Deputy Defense Minister, Danny Danon, over the his criticism of the government’s handling of the attacks.

El-Wafa Elderly Nursing Home Shelled by the Israeli Military

After a night of heavy shelling in the area, the day is dawning in Gaza. The clock ticks pass 08:00; past the evacuation time the Israeli military gave to el-Wafa hospital the previous evening.

The patients were not evacuated; there is nowhere for them to go. The entire Shajajia area where the hospital is located, with a population of around 100,000 inhabitants, has also been ordered to evacuate, as well as other areas around the Gaza Strip. For so many people to move to other areas cannot be done, and without shelter they can only rely on God and their luck.

During the night’s bombardment, when el-Wafa hospital shook several times with explosions, suspicions were raised that the hospital had been hit. In fact, the building close by, el-Wafa Elderly Nursing Home was shelled by the Israeli military.

The upper part of the Nursing Home was peppered with machine gun fire and non-explosive grenades penetrated the concrete walls.

Lying on the floor lay the used grenades, business cards from the world’s “most moral” army.

The news that gradually circulates tells the story of a violent night in Gaza, with Israeli air strikes across the Strip. The number of deaths has now risen to over 200, higher than the death toll of the last war two years ago. From a window in el-Wafa hospital, the characteristic clouds of smoke, sand, and dust rise towards the sky.

The following is a list of the 231 Palestinians killed by Israeli air bombardment since Tuesday, July 8th. This list is being updated regularly.

These are the names that have been confirmed by medical sources in Gaza. Approximately 1700 have been injured, with some losing limbs and others disabled for life.
