Two Children Taken from Beit Ummar

Two Palestinian children have been kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces, in a pre-dawn raid in Monday, from the town of Beit Ummar in the Hebron district in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Solidarity Project, based in Beit Ummar name the two children as 15-year-old Malik Jawad Zakik and Hamouda Jamal Abu Hashim, 13.

One of the children, Abu Hashim, has subsequently been released, but Zakik remains in detention.

These two children are amongst six who have been abducted over the past two days, the four others coming from East Jerusalem.

The State of Israel has come under frequent criticism for its policy of detaining minors, and interrogating them without a parent or lawyer present; and action illegal under both international and Israeli law.

In the recent case of Bassem at-Tamimi, some of the charges had to be thrown out, as it transpired that evidence against Tamimi had been coerced from a detained child.

Army Kidnaps Palestinian Family In Jerusalem; Child Taken from Playground

A combined force of the Israeli occupation forces, police and security services, kidnapped on Monday at dawn, a family in occupied East Jerusalem.

Members of Rebah Abu Hums' family were kidnapped and transported to the Russian Compound (al-Maskobiyya) prison in West Jerusalem for interrogation.

The Palestine News & Info Agency, WAFA, reported that the army broke into Abu Hums' home and attacked him and his family before kidnapping Abu Hums, his two sons and daughter.

Residents Ashraf and Ahmad Masri were also taken prisoner. The army did not provide information regarding the arrests.

Furthermore, Israeli occupation forces have kidnapped an 11-year-old child, identified as Muhammad Ashour on Sunday, also in East Jerusalem.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center, an NGO based in Silwan, East Jerusalem, stated that the child was taken from a playground in Silwan.

Israeli Occupation Forces Attack Homes in Gaza Strip

Israeli occupation forces attacked the homes and lands of Palestinian residents in the east of Khan Younis, South of the Gaza Strip on Monday morning.

According to eye witnesses, Israeli forces situated at the border opened fire on the houses and lands north of the towns of 'Esan and Kharaz'a which led to farmers fleeing their lands. No injuries have been reported.

It is usual for Israeli forces to target the eastern part of the province, especially around the boarders, which results in numerous deaths and injuries as well as the inability for farmers to access their lands.

Soldiers Prevent The Reconstruction Of A Mosque Demolished Last Year

Israeli occupation soldiers prevented, Saturday, residents of khirbit Al-Mafqara, a small village near the southern West bank city of Hebron, from rebuilding a mosque that was demolished by the army in late December last year.

Rateb Al-Jabour, coordinator of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements, in Yatta town south of Hebron, stated that the at least twenty armored military vehicles and jeeps invaded, on Saturday at noon, the Khirbit Al-Mafqara, east of Yatta town, south of Hebron, and surrounded dozens of residents and international peace activists participating in the reconstruction of the mosque.

The mosque was demolished after the army claimed that it was built without a construction permit. The village does not need a permit from Israel as the construction was approved by the local council.

In related news, soldiers attacked on Saturday the weekly nonviolent protest against the Wall and settlements in the nearby town of Beit Ummar, and kidnapped a local resident and an international peace activist.

Israeli occupation soldiers attacked, on Saturday afternoon, the weekly nonviolent protest against the Wall and settlements, in Beit Ummar town, near the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and kidnapped a resident and an international peace activist.

The kidnapped resident is Yousef Abu Maria, coordinator of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Hebron, while the international activist is Korean, the Palestinian Information Center reported.

Local sources stated that the soldiers also violently attacked another international peace activist, and several residents.

The army also fired rubber-coated metal bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades at the nonviolent protesters.

Sunday’s protest is part of the weekly nonviolent protests held, with the participation of Israeli and international peace activists, against Israel’s illegal Annexation Wall, its illegal settlements, and the ongoing attacks carried out by extremist settlers against the residents and their lands.

Settlers Cut Olive Trees Near Hebron

A number of extremist Israeli settlers of the Maon illegal settlement, cut on Sunday morning, several Palestinian olive trees, east of Yatta town, south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

Rateb Al-Jbour, spokesperson of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements, reported that the settlers cut approximately 30 olive trees planted on two

Dunams of orchards that belong to Fadel Rab’ey, and Hibreel Ahmad Rab’ey.
Last month, settlers of the Maon settlement carried out four similar attacks, in an attempt to illegally occupy Palestinian lands in order to expand their illegal settlement.

Residents of the area voiced an appeal to human rights groups, and all related institutions, to intervene and stop these attacks that target the livelihood of the residents.
