Palestinian Killed In Tunnel Accident

Palestinian medical sources reported that one worker was killed late on Tuesday evening in a tunnel accident in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The sources stated that resident Yousef Khalil Al Bal’awy, 29, died after a tunnel collapsed on him burying him under the sand.

It is worth mentioning that more than 150 Palestinians were killed in similar tunnels accidents since Israel imposed the deadly siege on Gaza more than four years ago.

Hundreds of patients, including infants and children, also died in Gaza hospitals as the Israeli siege on Gaza left its hospitals lacking the basic medications and medical supplies.

The repeated invasions and wars against Gaza led to thousands of casualties, and the army also bombarded a number of hospitals during the December 2008 – January 2009 war on Gaza.

1419 Palestinians were killed during the three-week war while thousands were injured, hundreds seriously. Dozens of patients died of their wounds after the war ended.

Egyptian authorities still refuse to allow travel of dozens of Gazans

The Egyptian authorities are still persistent in preventing dozens of students and patients from traveling through the Rafah border crossing for medical and educational purposes.

The authority of crossings and borders in Gaza said that the Egyptian authorities barred 45 Gazan passengers on Tuesday from crossing into Egypt and allowed only 259 others into Gaza.

Palestinian passengers had said that the Egyptian state security uses old lists of passengers who used to be banned by the ousted regime from entering Egypt and also prevent others whose names are not included in these lists.

Abu Mojahid Welcomes Stance Of New Egyptian Government

Spokesperson of Popular Resistance Committees, Mohammad Al Abreem (Abu Mojahid), welcomed the stances of the new Egyptian government regarding rejecting the Israeli siege on Gaza and the necessity to lift it.

Al Breem said that the current stances of the new government pave the road for a new stage that would help in lifting the injustice on Gaza and its people, by lifting a siege that violates the brotherly relations between the Egyptian and Palestinian people.

He also stated that the resistance is still waiting for Egypt to fully open the Rafah Border terminal as its Egyptian side is under full Egyptian control, and that "it makes no sense to keep the terminal closed to patients, students and all residents who need to travel or return to Gaza".

Abu Mojahid welcomed what he called “the return of the leading role of Egypt especially after the Egyptian revolution”, and the return of “Egypt’s role in aiding the Palestinian people and their steadfastness”.

The Resistance Committees urged the Higher Commander of the Egyptian Military council, Mohammad Tantawi, to end the file of Palestinian political prisoners in Egypt by releasing them as soon as possible.
