Debate over proposed Mosque in Henrico, Virginia

So now muslims are taking over the country?!That's an objective observation because I didn't notice that at all. For the last few years everything has been blamed on the Muslim community because of a common misconception by judgmental Americans. I'm not a Muslim but I'm not against their true religion. Indeed there are radicals out there and that's the same in every religion. Of all the acts of terrorism in the history of our country, we've never directed the blame to a specific religious group until maybe the last 2 decades. We've never said, "Those Catholics are taking over our country; or, Those Baptist are nothing but terrorist, etc. Do you know how many countries Americans have taken over? Imagine how those other nations feel. Imagine how the Native Americans felt when Europeans took over their nation. I am in favor of allowing a mosque in that location, hell there's a church on every corner in Richmond, Chesterfield, Hopewell, Henrico, Hanover, Midlothian, Petersburg, etc. so what's the harm in allowing another religious organization practice their faith in a community?

I'm sure there are other properties with the correct zoning to choose from.America was based in part on the desire for religious freedom,so let them have their mosque,just somewhere else that's zoned for it.

Muslims have to understand that the radicals in their ranks create hostility towards all of their faith.They need to do more to pubically denounce these radicals and change the perception that others have of them.The only way public opinion of them will change is if they take out their own trash.

This country is supposed to be open to people to worship (or not) however they seem fit. Yet anytime a mosque or school or any kind of center is proposed people act like they have no right to do it. People act like it is the worst religion ever conceived because of a few misguided people. To me it seems that the policy of live and let live only applies to white Christians and some Jews. I don't think it is good for anyone to oppose this project. Yes, there will be traffic but so what? It does not say in our founding documents "the right of the people to practice their religion shall not be infringed unless it causes more vehicular traffic". Obviously people are using that as an excuse but it is not relevant. If you are so confident of your religion why do you panic any time there is competition? It just looks like religous bigotry to me. And I am an atheist who thinks all religions are pretty much worthless.

PS: And for those of you who think this doesn't really affect me, I assure you it will. This mosque if built will literally be in my backyard.
