Resident Killed, Seven Injured, As Israeli Occupation Army Bombards Gaza

Palestinian medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported, on Tuesday at dawn, that one resident was killed and seven others were wounded in a series of air strikes carried out by the Israeli occupation government air force targeting several areas in the coastal region.

The seven wounded residents, including a child, suffered moderate-to-severe injuries.

The sources identified the slain resident as Mousa Al-Shutaiwy, 29, from Al-Zaitoun neighborhood, east of Gaza city.

Adham Abu Selmiya, spokesperson of the medical emergency services in Gaza, reported that three residents were seriously injured when the Israeli Air Force bombarded Al-Zaitoun neighborhood.

Also, two residents, including a 6-year-old child, were injured when the army bombarded the “tunnels area”, in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources reported that one of the two wounded residents was pronounced clinically dead.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) also bombarded a training center for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement, in Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east Gaza city.

Later on, the Israeli occupation government air force fired at least four missiles into another Qassam brigades training center located in the eastern area of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, leading to excessive damage but no injuries.

In addition, the IOF carried out two air strikes targeting a center for the Al-Qassam brigades in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip; excessive damage was reported; no injuries.

The Israeli occupation government airplanes also carried out an air strike targeting an area at the Gaza-Egypt border in Rafah, inflicting two injuries, including one child. The wounded were moved to Abu Yousuf Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah.

A Palestinian fisherman was hit and wounded off the northern Gaza shores on Monday when Israeli navy gunboats opened fire at him, medical sources reported.

They said that the 42-year-old fisherman was fishing in regional waters off Beit Lahia, north of Gaza Strip, when he was hit and taken to hospital where his condition was described as moderate.

Israel’s navy routinely targets Palestinian fishermen at sea while its ground forces target farmers along the Gaza borders in a clear war against sources of living for a major segment of the Palestinian society in the Strip.

One man was killed and seven others injured as Israeli warplanes struck targets in the central and southern Gaza Strip early Tuesday, Palestinian medical sources and the Israeli army said.

Adham Abu Selmiya, spokesman for the Hamas-run emergency services in the Gaza Strip, said the strikes had killed one Palestinian and wounded seven.

Several people were injured as Israeli occupation forces fired at a group of people in the Al-Zaitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, Palestinian medical sources said.

All of the victims were evacuated to Ash-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Mousa Al-Shutaiwi, 29, later died from his injuries.

Three other Palestinians, including a 6 year old child, also sustained injuries as an Israeli airstrike hit the border area near Rafah, southern Gaza, medics said.

"The outcome of the Israeli aggression during the past 24 hours is now one martyr and seven injured," Abu Selmiya said.

Israeli occupation forces launched air raids in several areas of the coastal enclave after midnight with operations continuing until the early morning Ramadan meal, just before daybreak. Palestinian sources said they counted five air strikes across Gaza.

The Israeli army confirmed that airstrikes had hit the coastal enclave.

"Overnight, IAF aircraft targeted four targets in the Gaza Strip. Direct hits were confirmed," a statement said.

"These sites were targeted in response to the firing of a rocket from the Gaza Strip at the city of Be'er Sheva" (the Israeli name for the occupied Palestinian city of Be-er Al-Saba'a).

The rocket did not cause any damage or injuries, the military said. Israeli public radio said a second rocket had been fired at the city, but it was not immediately clear where it landed.

Israeli warplanes also targeted a Palestinian military camp in the Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, with no reported injuries.

A military base reportedly used by Hamas' military wing, Al Qassam Brigades, was also targeted in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
