Army Fires At Farmers, homes, In Rafah

Palestinian farmers stated Thursday evening that Israeli occupation soldiers stationed near the border in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, fired rounds of live ammunition at them, their lands and homes. No injuries were reported.

The farmers said that soldiers, based near the Kerem Shalom crossing, opened fire at them and their homes in the Al Duhniyya and Al Shouka areas, an issue that pushed several families to leave their homes seeking shelter elsewhere.

Border areas in the Gaza Strip witness frequent attacks by the Israeli army. Over the past two days, the army bulldozed farmlands and expanded some military posts in the area.

Israeli Police Detains 12 Palestinians In Jerusalem

Israeli occupation government policemen detained on Thursday 12 Palestinians near the Al Aqsa Mosque and took them to unknown destinations.

Eyewitnesses reported that the police violently attacked the residents during a protest against settlers who arrived at the Al-Aqsa Mosque to hold prayers there.

The police clashed with the residents and detained 12. The detained residents were beaten by the police before being detained; there were moved to a police station in Jerusalem.

Illegal Israeli Settlers Write Slogans Call For Mosque Demolition In Nablus

Illegal Israeli extremists settlers called, on thursday, for the demolition of a mosque in the West Bank village of Burin, near Nablus.

An Nablus government source stated that settlers posted stickers on the intersection called for the destruction of the mosque, which is located in a residential neighbourhood and which is exposed to a daily attack by the Israeli army.

Ghassan Doughlas, head of the Illegal Israeli Settlement File in the northern West Bank, reported that settlers wrote posters with provocative slogans. He added, ''slogans called for the demolition of the mosque.''

Israeli occupation government decided to destroy the mosque, however, the issue is still pending in the Israeli courts.

Furthermore, settlers have invaded and torched many mosques in the Nablus area and wrote racist slogans.

Israel Uses Expired Gas Bomb in Silwan

In a journalist conference held in Silwan tent on Wednesday, medics and lawyers revealed that the Israeli occupation army uses expired tear gas and sound bombs to suppress the demonstrations which happened in Jerusalem last week.

They demanded the formation of an international committee in order to investigate the bombs kind used by the Israeli occupation army in Jerusalem.

Fakhri Abu Diab, one of the members of Silwan's Land and Property Defense Committee, highlighted the effects of these expired bombs, explaining that they causes vomiting, extreme fatigue and high temperature. Moreover, when demonstrators were moved to the hospital for treatment, poisoning was another major effect of the expired bombs.

Abu diab also stated: “We collected some of the bombs from the neighborhoods of Jerusalem to know their types, and we discovered that some of them have been expired for a year and the others for 6 months. Doctors said that the content of these bombs oxidized and causes bad effects on human beings and environment more than the original effect.”

Palestinian Worker Wounded By Explosive Dropped By Israeli Occupation Army

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that a Palestinian man was wounded by unexploded ordinance, apparently dropped by the Israeli occupation army during the war on Gaza last year.

The worker, who was unidentified at the time of this report but is reported by witnesses to be in his mid-30s, was moved to Kamal Adwan hospital suffering moderate wounds.

He was collecting stones and debris near the Erez (Beit Hanoun) Crossing, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

This incident is just the latest in a number of explosions of unexploded ordinance left by the Israeli army in Gaza. Recently, two Palestinian workers were wounded in two separate incidents in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Although millions of dollars were promised by various countries to help rebuild the Gaza Strip and clean up leftover explosives, the Israeli siege on Gaza has prevented the aid money from being distributed, and much of Gaza remains in the same condition as it was after the destructive Israeli invasion 18 months ago.

During its three-week war on Gaza starting in late December 2008, the Israeli army bombarded infrastructure, educational facilities, medical facilities and civilian structures, destroying or severely damaging an estimated 30,000 buildings.
