17 Iraqis Killed, Scores Injured in 9 Attacks April 28-30, 2010 Eastern Falluja attack’s casualties rise to 10 April 30, 2010 - 10:10:27 ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: Casualties from the bomb blast in eastern Falluja on Friday went up to two dead and eight wounded, a police source said. “The explosive device, which went off in al-Shuhadaa marketplace in al-Karma district, eastern Falluja, killed two civilians and wounded eight more,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “Policemen managed also to defuse a roadside bomb in al-Sajr region in al-Karma district,” he added. “Security forces sealed off the whole region and started a searching campaign,” he said. A police source had said earlier that two civilians were killed and five more were wounded in an improvised explosive device blast in al-Shuhadaa marketplace in central al-Karma district, eastern Falluja. Falluja, the largest city in Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad; while Ramadi, the capital of the province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. SH (P) Blast in Baghdad kills 8, wounds 20 April 29, 2010 - 06:26:20 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Eight civilians were killed and 20 others wounded in a car bomb attack that targeted a liquor store in southwestern Baghdad on Thursday, a security source said. “An explosive vehicle went off near a store selling liquor in al-Shurta 4 area, killing eight civilians and wounding 20 others,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The blast also left severe damage to the nearby stores,” the source added, not giving further details. AmR (P) Soldier killed by bomb blast in Anbar April 29, 2010 - 09:34:52 ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: An Iraqi soldier was killed on Thursday by a bomb blast in western Anbar, a security source said. “An improvised explosive device went off on Thursday (April 29), targeting a military vehicle patrol in Jabla region between al-Qaem and Rawa districts in western Anbar, killing a soldier and damaging the vehicle,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, is located 110 km west of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR Civilian killed by sticky bomb in Kirkuk April 29, 2010 - 08:30:39 KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed on Thursday in a sticky bomb blast in central Kirkuk, a source from the joint coordination center said. “The sticky bomb went off at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday (April 29) on a civilian car behind al-Haja Sabriya mosque in central Kirkuk, killing the driver, Sirwan Hamid, and destroying the car,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The body was sent to the morgue of Azadi public hospital,” he said. He did not give further details. Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR IED wounds 6 people in Baghdad April 29, 2010 - 07:36:53 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Six persons were wounded on Thursday in an improvised explosive device blast in eastern Baghdad, a police source said. “The bomb was detonated this morning near al-Ghadier bridge in eastern Baghdad, targeting a police patrol,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The explosion wounded six persons, including four policemen,” he added. SH (P) Sticky bomb wounds 4 civilians in western Baghdad April 28, 2010 - 07:17:40 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Four persons were wounded in a sticky bomb explosion in western Baghdad, according to a security source. “A bomb, stuck to a vehicle belongs to the electricity ministry, went off on 14 Ramadan street in western Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The explosion wounded four civilians,” he added, without giving further details. SH (P) Army finds U.S. unmanned aircraft in Mosul April 28, 2010 - 06:10:35 NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Military forces found on Wednesday a U.S. unmanned aerial vehicle in a depot in western Mosul, according to an army source. “A force from the 3rd division of the Iraqi army found on Wednesday (April 28) a U.S. unmanned aerial vehicle in a stockpile of weapons and explosives in al-Yarmouk neighborhood in western Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The operation was launched in light of intelligence information,” he noted. “The depot contains a number of bombs and light weapons,” he added. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P) 2 car bombs kill 5, injure 17 in Baghdad April 28, 2010 - 05:32:31 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Five persons were killed and 17 others were wounded in two car bombs explosions in southern Baghdad, a police source said. “Two car bombs went off simultaneously on Wednesday evening (April 28) in Abu Dashier region, killing five persons, including two policemen, and injuring 17, including five policemen, and damaging nearby buildings,” the source, who asked for anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He did not give further details. SH (P) 3 civilians wounded in blast in western Baghdad April 28, 2010 - 11:07:17 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Three civilians were wounded when a roadside bomb went off on Wednesday in western Baghdad. “The blast occurred today around noon,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He did not mention further details, but noted that the blast caused damage to a number of nearby buildings.
