According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (http://www.palestinercs.org), since the beginning of the Palestinian Uprising (Al-Intifadha), on September 29, 2000, the Israeli occupation forces killed 2,008 and injured 18,920 Palestinians. Hundreds of Palestinian houses were demolished and unknown number of trees were uprooted by the Israeli occupation soldiers. Also about 415 Israelis were killed and about 1,568 were injured. The following is an attempt by Al-Jazeerah Information Center to document the occupation victims starting from the second half of February 2002 (Note: There may be some differences between the total figures provided by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, above, and the figures provided by the Arabic media, below).
The table includes the best estimates from the PRCS and the media. There are no official Palestinian figures available. -- No data available. + Killed and injured since the beginning of April * 500 killed in Jenin refugee camp alone. ** Adjustment from the figures of the PRCS since 3/29/02. *** Israeli occupation forces arrested somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 Palestinians, during the first half of April 2002. Nobody knows the exact number because of the destruction of the Palestinian Authority institutions. *+ This figure of 167 Palestinian injuries is the difference between inconsistent media reports and the figures reported by PRCS. |
